Happiness Episodes 1 & 2 Thoughts
Nov. 22nd, 2025 07:13 pmEpisode 1
I really enjoyed the first episode.
+ I love the introductions of Yi-hyun and Sae-bom. Actually the whole episode was really good at showing us exactly who they are as people which I appreciated. But the opening scene with him unbothered on a ledge watching the chaos it's causing and waiting to see how it would play out, and then her taking action by confidentially making her way to the ledge to talk him down, all because she was bored and wanted to leave school was great. I loved her deciding to end it by pushing him off (instead of letting him walk off even though she basically already had him there) and him very obviously falling in love while falling.
+ I liked how their subsequent establishing scenes after that highlighted their personalities. He's observant, she's quick-thinking. Both are calm, decisive and take charge.
+ I really appreciated how Sae-bom reacted in her first encounter with a zombie. She immediately pulled her gun when she saw his face, she shot him without hesitation when he ran at her, she used the furnishings in the room to her advantage against him and even once she had him locked in the room she kept her gun trained on him. She was calm throughout and didn't for a moment panic or hesitate.
+ I liked the first episode book ending Yi-hyun asking her to be his girlfriend with Sae-bom asking him to marry her.
+ Their worry for each other is great. I'm already very much enjoying them as a couple.
Episode 2
+ I love Sae-bom and Seo-yoon. They are absolutely adorable together. Seo-yoon's hero worship is cute. Sae-bom went above and beyond with this clearly lonely little girl and they're interactions were really sweet. I loved their scene at the outdoor gym.
+ I also love Yi-hyun and Tae-seok who I found really fun together.
+ I'm enjoying how very much in love Yi-hyun clearly is.
+ I like how direct Tae-seok is and him straight up saying that his job was to steal. "I may not be good at making things, but I am good at stealing." Ha. Tae-seok having been the one to have inadvertently brought the pills and thus the illness to Korea via his job is interesting.
+ As so often in shows the poor background soldiers are really not coming off great at their job. This is a high security building and yet her partner manages to wandering around without being stopped? He was in hazmat and carrying one chair and if you look at all you can see one arm is not in the suit and that wasn't suspicious? He managed to sneak into the back of one of the trucks without notice? Sae-bom is able to pull them away from trying to hold the doors shut, and then Yi-hyun does the same thing?
