Happiness Episode 6 Thoughts
Dec. 3rd, 2025 06:52 pmOkay, well you win some and you lose some. There were some decisions I thought were pretty smart and then there were some dumb ones! And then things went to shit pretty quickly!
+ This was a great episode for So-yoon. I thought it was great that she was suspicious of her husband's explanation, checked it out and then went to get help. I loved that she stuck to her morals and refused to raise her hand for 'kick out' even when confronted by her overbearing husband's pressure. I liked that when he confronted her afterwards she didn't cave - "I don't think my opinion was wrong." I was so proud of her. I hope this whole situation leads to growth and not death for her.
+ On the other side Na Soo-min. Sigh. First, I should have stuck with my first impression because entitled childish user wasn't really a far off impression! Learning that he got his parents financial help through school and then their fortune when they died and is no over demanding that his sister finance him? Fuck that! Good for her refusing. That's not even addressing the pushing off the swings situation. Second, dude! I'm not sure I buy him feeling safe enough in the building to go explore a suspicious banging noise or to open the stairwell door but perhaps the fight with Hyun-kyung had him feeling the need to prove himself. But wow not a good decision. He should have stuck to his run away ethos.
+ I have to admit there is definitely some schadenfreude in hearing Tae-seok learning of the first bite attack and dismissing it as 'he isn't dead' and immediately trying to covering it up knowing his wife is about to be attacked in seconds. Terrible for both of them, but talk about karma hitting immediately and so on the nose!
+ I really liked Sae-bom telling Yi-Hyun that she would be the bad cop from now on (um, she hasn't been??? lol, but colour me surprised) and telling him to just be good from now on. It was sweet.
+ I like how the show is exploring how the poor are exploited and put in danger. I'm glad that Bo-ram didn't die.
+ I loved Yi-hyun noticing the elevator going down and going down to check it out. And that when he got down he didn't immediately burst in but watched and listened to figure out what was going on first. That said he really probably should have intervened a lot earlier if only for Mr Kim's sake. I did like how he was observing Mr Kim's transformation and making conclusions and theories.
+ I really thought Mr Kim wasn't actually infected and they were being a little harsh on him. I liked Yi-hyun's sighed "I was hoping he wasn't infected" and also the subtle kindness he did show to him this episode.
+ I am judgingly side-eyeing Yi-hyun for telling Mr. Kim that he would take care of the pills Joo-hyung now knew about and then he apparently does nothing and Joo-hyung gets the pills. I'm hoping that he actually did something off-screen.
+ "Will you take responsibility when we get infected?" And meanwhile he was the idiot who was going to break quarantine and let an infected person into the building! Ugh, Hae-seong is an obnoxious asshole.
+ I'm curious about what Sang-hee was searching for in Joo-kyung's apartment. I do appreciate that she was waiting for him with the golf club on her lab and I'm kind of hoping that she ends up killing him in self-defence with the same thing he used to murder his wife. That feels fitting.
+ I feel like I've missed something with the CEO because really don't get why he's is being kept alive in this way. This is the support like the President would get. Just the fact that his company created Next should be a point against him. But what is really confusing is that he somehow seems to have actual power? Like he brings up that they need to close of certain areas and cut off the power and any deliveries to it -- and apparently this mass murder of their citizens plan is going to be happening? ???? Is he more than just a pharmaceutical CEO? Why is he apparently an advisor to the president? I don't get it. (Even after murdering a guard!)
+ aww he came down to make a vote and save a life that's wonderful.
