"I choose you." I get that he's (probably?) talking about making her his Chef but why so intimate, Lee Heon?! I do love the contrast of him being all intense and kind of smouldering at her all the time and then we have her reactions to his praise being a sighing oh whatever attitude and confused annoyance/fear.

The way Lee Heon keeps seeing Ji-young as his mother makes me wonder if this is even supposed to be a romance. Okay not seriously. But him telling her 'now feed me' and then asking 'you don't want to?' when she shows hesitation, I mean how do you even answer that!? I do appreciate that her food is giving him back the happiness and love his mother showed him, and the good memories he had with her.

Lee Heon can be such a malicious dick sometimes. Sometimes it's fun (honestly the escape attempt, what a dick move lol), sometimes it's very not (burning them with hot irons threat).

One of the highlights of the show continues to be Ji-young and Gil-geum. I really love how they take care of each other. They are just always there supporting, trying to help, sharing their joys and sorrows. It's great. One of my favourite moments is when an appalled Gil-geum held her open hand under Ji-young's mouth and demanded that she spit out the unknown food she'd just put in there, lol.

Another favourite moment/gag was Ji-young and Gil-geum locking themselves back into the jail cell after working in the kitchens and then also into their stocks, lol.

Honestly I'm rather enjoying the silliness of the show. I like that they keep kneecapping potentially serious scenes with lightheartedness. Like Song-jae trying to lure Ji-young in and then it devolving as she tries to describe what a bag is to him and especially how he gets involved in figuring it out. It's a small moment but the bag pantomime was great.

Song-jae deciding to support Ji-young and try to encourage her relationship with Lee Heon amuses me. I hope he goes all in in shipping them. Him immediately running to tattle about the cooking competition is exactly the vibes I want.

I really appreciated how well Ji-young handled the royal kitchen staff after her appointment. Her choosing to simply nope out of their initial attempt at sabotage so casually and their reactions was great.

I enjoyed Ji-young freaking out over the snake/cockroaches and meanwhile country girl Gil-geum is all 'hold my hat I got this' about it.

Lee Heon petting Gong-gil's hair was a bit much. Learning Gong-gil is the prince's secret spy hidden as his jester twisted it around and I'm now here for it. I hope we get a bunch more of them.

I found it interesting that Mok-ju was so willing to try and force her way into Lee Heon's room when told he was occupied. Not just that he's a king but he also has three other concubines. (I'm assuming the three women we always see with Dowager Queen Inju?) Was there no chance he could have been with one of them?

I always like how overwhelmed people get by Ji-young's cooking, their reactions are fun. Court lady Mal-im was having the best night of her life.
