iariaI’m tentatively sold on the casting for the new Wonder Woman TV series but the more I hear about the show itself the less impressed I am. I am really hoping the dialogue about Diana’s action figure’s breasts is not actually in the episode or indicative of the dialogue but I fear it will be. Also crying in ice cream? Why did they put David E. Kelley in charge of this again?
In further bad news - apparently Lois Lane will not be in the new Superman movie and there will be a new female love interest? How can you have Superman without Lois Lane? You can’t!
I don’t generally care much about actors and I don’t like watching interviews because they often hit my embarrassment squick. However, I watched this Elizabeth Mitchell interview for TV Guide and I loved it. She’s adorable. I loved Juliet and I have to say I am now really loving Elizabeth Mitchell as well.
Robert Hewitt Wolfe the original producer of Andromeda apparently had the entire show, and the ending, plotted out in his mind. But he ended up being fired half way through season two because the company that owned the rights to the idea thought his version/plan for Andromeda was too complicated and dark. He writes here about his intended five year arc for the series. It’s really interesting and I wish we could have gotten that show instead.
Nikita 1x15 'Alexandra'
I really liked it.
• The Michael/Nikita stuff was some of the best we’ve gotten on the show thus far. I loved them working together to save Alex, and Nikita managing to make him think it was all for the cell phone and thus protect Alex’s cover. The moment when Nikita almost confesses her love to Michael was excellent.
• I loved Nikita’s desperation to find Alex and the little moment between them when she did. The way that she just dragged Alex into her arms and held her was wonderful. And I liked that Nikita gave up the cell in order to protect Alex.
• It’ll be interesting to see where things will go with Alex now that she’s remembered her father’s words and seems to have taken them to heart.
• I liked that in an episode dealing with the fact that Alex was a sex slave she wasn’t once threatened with being raped again.
The Big Bang Theory 4x16
• Aw, I love Amy. I loved her immediately running to be there for Penny and honestly trying the best she can to be Penny’s best friend. I love Penny/Amy. I love that at this point Penny just accepts it (the crying experiment), even likes it in a similar way to Sheldon (being amused/pleased at Amy’s success at the end), and that she is Penny’s friend.
• The final Penny/Sheldon/Amy scene was great. I like that Amy has also been changing how Sheldon interacts with other people by making him more aware and conscious of social mores.
I do wish we’d have gotten a scene between Penny and Bernadette because we know they are friends and both of them were going through romantic ups and downs this episode.
• I don't see what Bernadette sees in Howard but I want her to stick around so I hope this doesn’t lead to them breaking up.
• Raj’s reaction to Leonard and Priya was hilarious. Trying to control his sister and her love life would be irritating except Raj is so completely helpless to enact his will, and instead spends the whole episode powerlessly blustering and raving and it ends up funny instead.
• I like Priya, and her completely ignoring Raj helps with makes it less skeevy as well. The conversation at dinner with Sheldon was very amusing. I’m hoping that Penny and Priya become friends and I like that things didn’t turn into a cat fight and passive aggressiveness between them.
Chuck 4x14 'Chuck Versus the Seduction Impossible
• I loved that Chuck, Sarah and Casey were all completely on the same page about all the family togetherness – that is: panic, horror and a desperate need to run away to a mission.
• Chuck annoyed me a bit (his whole ‘woman’ talk) but I loved so much “As the future Mr. Sarah Walker.” The only other show I can think of that has the guy talk about himself as his wife/girlfriend’s ‘other’ is Rory becoming Rory Pond on Doctor Who. It made me really happy.
• I also liked that Sarah’s angst about the wedding wasn’t about her commitment issues but about her lack of family which feels very believable to me.
• I loved General Beckman with the rocket launcher.
Chuck 4x15 'Chuck Versus the CAT Squad'
• This was the most Bechdel passing episode in the show’s history which was great. I really loved the final Sarah/Zondra/Carina talk and I loved all the Sarah/Ellie we got. I love that that Sarah has female friends that are important to her and that she now has back. And I really loved that we got Sarah and Ellie being friends, which is something we’ve gotten so little of in the series.
• The show did a lot less well in race. I don’t usually notice, in that I feel the need to comment or think about it every episode, but it really stuck out to me with this episode. We’re introduced to Sarah’s former team – and not of the three girls is something other than Caucasian? Really? I’m really not impressed.
• I love the idea of the CAT squad and would totally watch that show. Well, maybe not in the Charlie’s Angels style and with a male boss but I want a show with a kick ass team of ladies (... wait, Charlie’s Angels is being remade.)
• Why would Amy be allowed into the interrogation when they knew one of the CAT’s was a traitor? That just seems very bad spy work to me. I was also confused by why exactly Amy and Gaez wouldn’t have killed the girls and Chuck when they could? What reason would they have to keep them alive? I wish that there hadn’t actually been a spy among the CATs just because I knew right from the beginning it was Amy and it would have been nice to have been surprised.
• I wish Carina hadn’t been stuck in the Morgan subplot, though I really liked the final Morgan/Alex scene, and I missed the Sarah/Carina interactions.
• This episode Chuck annoyance comes with: “I don’t like fighting girls.” Considering this show, and this episode especially, is full of women who can kick his ass that just really annoyed me. It’s like a casual underlying type of sexism.
