• So the big thing in this episode was, of course, the baby. I don’t know how to feel about it to be honest. I was somewhat prepared because I’ve seen a theory about this based off of what happened in 3x10 which I never saw but it put the idea out there. I do care for red Olivia, loved her in this episode, and I’m not a huge OTPer for Olivia/Peter (... heh, I almost wrote Pacey) so it’s not a huge issue at the moment. I think I’m willing to sit back and trust the PTB enough to see how it plays out.
• It was nice to get back to the Red Universe. It’s been so long since we’ve been there and I’d missed it. I find I love Red Olivia far more in her own universe and being herself than in the Blue Universe. I really felt for her in this episode. It seems that even if she did fall for Peter she does sincerely love Frank and I just wanted to hug her during the hospital scene. And then the final scene with Walter was just kind of yikes even though I knew it was coming. I’m really hoping that everything is leading up to both Olivia’s teaming up to save the universes together as partners. That would be awesome. I have a feeling that the truth about Red Broyles fate could very well be the tipping point for Red Olivia in getting her to work with Blue Olivia.
• I loved all the Olivia/Charlie and Olivia/Charlie/Lincoln interactions. I love the good natured teasing and the fun they have together and the love they so clearly feel for each other. I just really love this team. I find it kind of fascinating how much more light and jokey the Red team is than the Blue team. Even though it’s the red universe that is slowly falling apart. Is it a sort of gallows humour situation or just the personalities involved?
• The subtext that Lincoln is in love with Olivia was really strong. I’ve gotten the impression before but it came through even more in this episode. It’s really interesting because it is played subtly (...or I’m delusion but let’s go with subtle) and it makes Lincoln’s character even more likable to me. He loves her... and does not angst over it or act passive-aggressively. Instead he is a supportive friend to her, is nice to and about her boyfriend, and genuinely wants her to be happy and is happy when she is. I love it. I kind of want the show to state right out that he’s in love with her just so we can have a male character canonically being like that.
• I actually really liked Frank as well. I’ve been mainly neutral about him but he was pretty amazing in this episode and I really liked his interactions with Olivia (though I spent the episode expecting him to die for some reason). I hope this isn’t the last we see of him.
• Whenever Charlie’s in an episode I remember how much I miss him. I want him to be in every episode.
• “There are lines I simply cannot cross.” It’s kind of fascinating that the one horrible thing Walternate refuses to do, after all the horrible things he’s done, is the one thing Walter did without thinking about it. Now what caused that difference? The absence of William Bell in the red universe?
Fringe 3x14 ‘6B’
I loved this episode. I really loved that the issues that plague the red universe – the tears in the fabric of reality, the vortexes, the various issues that are epidemic in it – are now beginning to affect the blue universe. I’ve always wondered why the red universe was affected so much more. The affects now being felt in the blue universe also adds a lot more tension which I love.
• I am glad that Olivia found it in herself to be able to move past what happened and reach for the happiness she wants but there’s also this cloud hanging over it with the knowledge that Red Olivia is pregnant with Peter’s baby.
• I really love how much Walter loves Olivia and that he sincerely wants her to be a part of his family. I loved him setting up Peter and Olivia for a breakfast date and I loved him calling her ‘dear’ in the lab. Even though he was being very snappy with everyone it made me ‘aww’.
• I really liked that final Nina/Walter scene. I can see that scene, complete with hand holding, playing out with Nina and Bell. Is that who Nina was for Bell? Are we ever going to get more background on their relationship?
• I think it would have been interesting to see the reactions if Derek had told Red Olivia the truth at the end – that he’d been seeing his wife, that he saw a woman that looked just like her but with blonde hair... I wonder what they would have taken from that? Would it have made them think that the blue universe had discovered a way to deal with vortexes without amber?
• "I've experienced what it's like to be with you." – Peter ... except no he hasn’t! He’s been with an Olivia but not blue Olivia and they are different people. He hasn’t had a relationship with Olivia yet. The fact that he doesn’t draw this distinction, doesn’t appear to realise that he needs to... disturbs me.
• Why is Olivia not working on her abilities? This drives me crazy. With things now heating up in the blue universe dare I hope it will mean she will start thinking it’s important? Because she should. I mean, working to be able to see and identify disturbances and things from the other universe when she wants and not just when she’s afraid is a very useful skill to have! Plus we’ve seen her other abilities – travelling between universe, the super-hearing (beginning of season 2) and telekinesis (... I think, the light box from season one) and her pyrokinesis (when she was a child) and I’m sure there are other abilities I’m not remembering. Why isn’t she trying to hone them so she can use them?
