'Hit' & 'Run'

I haven't watched this show since the end of season 5 but I knew Paget Brewster was leaving the show again and read a short spoiler about how this episode ended so I decided to check it out. Why not?

And I really liked it! I remember feeling increasingly meh about the show during season 5 but this duo had a lot of what I've always loved about the show - mainly the relationship between the team.

+ I loved the final scenes. Prentiss's goodbye talk with Morgan, the extended shots of everyone dancing with everyone and Prentiss walking around the edge of dance floor watching. It was nice. I liked that she got at least one short moment with everyone.

Of the dancing I loved the Prentiss/JJ/Garcia dance (but I wish it had been a bit longer), the Prentiss/Hotch dance (so smiley and happy at first and then serious and where there seemed to be a lot of unspoken feelings hanging around), and most especially the Prentiss/Morgan dances. We got several shots of them dancing - him dipping her and them laughing, then a shot of Reid handing her off to Morgan with them grinning, and then the episode ends with a close up of them dancing, holding each other tight, and before the camera pans back on them in the middle of the dance floor.

Of the various relationships on the show the Morgan/Prentiss partnership and Morgan/Garcia friendship are my favourites while at the same time I ship them both. So the season ending on Prentiss and Morgan holding each as they dance was lovely.

+ JJ vs Izzy was awesome. Completely unbelievable, Izzy was a professional assassin and when did JJ become so good at fighting, but I don't care because JJ was kickass and I loved it. She's always been the stealth badass of the group. This scene really reminded me of her shooting the under-sheriff who shot Garcia in 3x10.

+ I loved Prentiss disarming the bomb.

+ I liked Rossi putting together the wedding for JJ and bringing in her mother. That made me aw.

+ I loved Morgan helping Prentiss look for an apartment at the beginning.

+ I really wish we could have had an Emily/JJ scene considering this was Emily's last episode. Just JJ thanking her for saving Will and them hugging would have been enough.

+ I liked Reid's Fourth Doctor costume, and love that he knitted the scarf himself, but I couldn't figure out who Garcia was dressed up as.

Things I didn't like:

+ I was annoyed that Garcia decided not to go into the con, and wouldn't let Reid go, just because Kevin was there and they'd apparently broken up. I don't like that choice for her plus it was rude to Reid who was clearly excited to be there.

+ Prentiss's whole 'cracks in the foundation' talk was really overdone.

+ I could have done without at least half the shots of JJ and Will dancing. I realise it was their wedding but after the third shot of them dancing every time it returned to them I was impatient for it to go back to everyone else. Way, way too many shots of them dancing.

+ It bothered me that there was no mention of Will's partner's death. If there's one thing cop shows have taught me it's that cop partners are very close and loyal. When JJ first saw Will I was expecting her to say "I'm sorry about [partner's name]" I was expecting Will to say something about wanting revenge/justice for his partner. On any other show this would be a huge emotional beat and while I understand why it wasn't here the lack of any acknowledgement was just off.

+ After Will got the male bank robber to leave the front of the bank why wouldn't all of the hostages immediately have run out? I thought they did but after the bomb blew and the team went in they found one of the female tellers dead and there was another body. There was more than enough time between the bank robber leaving and the explosion for everyone to get so I don't really understand how they didn't.
