+ I love when Eriko gets the respect she deserves. Her final scene with Kuroki was great. She captured him by being observant and one step ahead (as always) and he recognised in her someone worthy of respect.

+ I think Eriko meeting Kuroki Taihei at the hospital, at the same time that he's killing people, and it then becoming a case given to her team is a little too much coincidence to believe.

+ Kuroki lecturing Eriko on shoji, and through it how to do her job, was a little annoying. Shoji, sure, but while everyone can always learn new things despite how well they do in their job what he told her was already stuff that she knew.

+ "I'm younger and cuter and actually, I'm smarter." - Sachiko. Uh huh.

+ I really liked Eriko's response to Sachiko after she tells her that she 'knows Nodate's expectations but it's too soon for her to be Boss 2'. It's a really presumptuous thing to say especially to Eriko instead of Nodate (and you have to wonder what Sachiko was going for with it). Eriko was understandably confused but she takes it very calmly and instead of slapping Sachiko down she she tells Sachiko to have more self-confidence and takes the opportunity to try and learn more about her.

+ Another episode with Eriko and Nodate meeting for a drink while Mami tries and fails to contact her.

2x05

+ The main thing that sticks out with this episode was Nodate seriously putting his job on the line to give Eriko another chance to solve her case. He didn't even seem completely convinced that they would be able to - see his muttered "maybe I'll start a goukon business of something with those guys." - and yet he still did it. ♥

+ Also I love that his vision of the future where they all get fired involves still working with Eriko and her team.

+ I love how it's become a thing for the show to end on Eriko and Nodate hanging out in a bar.

+ I was expecting it to be basically the same as the other times but then this happened:

Nodate: That's the man's quest for romance. To seek an unknown prey.
Eriko: You can't see the forest for the trees. The best prey is right in front of you.
Nodate: Please. Quit your jiving.

... I don't even know what to do with that! Eriko was flirting with Nodate... and even if he thinks she was joking it didn't seem like that to me! I don't know. I have a hard time reading both their responses. They joke around and poke at each other a lot so why does he put a stop to her joking about that?

I love their friendship, even though I ship them as well, and I never thought the show would actually go anywhere romantic with them. Actually I still don't. But then I never expected actual flirting either.

+ Keisuke and Iwai (in a dress!) trying to teach Katagiri how to talk to women made me go aww. I like the team being friends. Even if him being unable to flirt feels a bit like a retcon. I'm pretty sure I remember him being a lot better with women in the past. Certainly he's had no problems interviewing women for a case so that felt even more off.

+ I like how Iwai named himself Osawa Eriko. He has such a crush on her.

+ "Our school's teaching was not to live depending on men, unlike yours." - Eriko. Ouch. Harsh is right.

+ I'm wondering if Eriko chose to partner with Iwai just so that she could better keep a leash on him. She spent a lot of time reigning him in, cutting him off and even physically touching him to get him back on track.

2x06

+ So the boy band interlude at the beginning and Eriko's fangirling was a little unexpected. I do love that Iwai called and invited her. How did he know she'd love to go?

+ The guys interrupting her attempt at a dramatic walk into the bank with worry over her made me lol.

+ "I'm tough? Not even. It's more the opposite. I'm like this because I know my own weaknesses." - Eriko

+ I loved Nodate showing his competent/serious side - when he got the file for the unsolved bank robbery, even before Eriko asked for it or even knew she wanted it. There is a reason he's the boss and it's not just politics. He's a good cop and I like when we get to see that.

+ Unfortunately all the working english subbed videos I could find for this episode cut off the last five minutes. I missed only two scenes:

1) Eriko and Sachiko on the roof. I didn't understand what was said between them but I can guess some of it. Maybe it's Sachiko approaching Eriko to tell her that she does want to stay with the unit/stay being a cop and Eriko encouraging her in her own manner. At one point Eriko thanks Sachiko - for a job well done? How it ended - with smiles and Sachiko calling Eriko 'boss' - was clear enough. Once again Eriko inspires someone to strive to be the best they can be and in the process gains their respect.

2) As has become habit with this series we end with Eriko and Nodate in a bar except this time most of the team is there as well and they end the episode separating - Nodate to join Keisuke and Ippei flirting with some women and Eriko joining Iwai in hanging out with boy band 2PM. But before doing so they have a fairly long conversation and considering how their conversation went in the previous episode I really want to know what was said!

ETA: Aha! I found a subbed version. I was pretty much entirely wrong about the details of the Eriko/Sachiko meeting but I stand by my interpretation of the end. I also liked that Eriko specifically had Sachiko handcuff the killer. The Eriko/Nodate exchange was basically just them talking about the case and Eriko explaining how she knew who the killer was so nothing big would have been missed there. (Well except for Eriko explaining why she's brilliant but at this point it doesn't really need explanation, it just is.)
