I enjoyed it.

+ I really liked Shaw. I loved how determined she was and how unexpectedly badass. The whole section where she fooled the others into thinking she was knocked out, then escaped and did surgery on herself was pretty damn badass. And then even though she was in pain she still ran around for the rest of the movie.

I thought her breakdown at the end was more than warranted. After almost dying again, and being left alone on an alien planet with no way off - of course she's going to have a moment of "I'm done". But when David speaks and offers her another option she gets herself up and continues to fight to survive. And that is pretty awesome. Plus, even though I disagree with her choice, she then chose to continue with her mission/plan instead of returning to Earth/safety which I can respect.

+ I thought David was really fascinating. I want to re-watch the movie just so I can pay closer attention to his expressions/reactions. The scene where he sees the 3-D map of the universe/stars was great.

+ I loved the Shaw/David interactions. I would totally watch a sequel about them travelling together in space.

+ I loved the scene with Shaw in the surgery pod. One of the best of the movie.

+ I had a bit of an issue with Shaw's decision at the end - they just met an Engineer and his first action was to immediately set out to destroy humanity. I don't think it's the best idea to be bringing humanity to the attention of the rest of the Engineers.

+ The crew for the expedition was mostly meh. I liked Janek.

+ I find it weird and surprising that, considering this mission was Peter Weyland's personal project that he spent a huge fortune on and that Vickers went along to supervise, they didn't have a larger crew made up of the best of the best. The fact that most of them didn't even seem to know why they went off into space is unbelievable. Did they just grab these guys off the street? That seems very out of character of Vickers at least.

+ What kind of biologist reaches out to touch/pet the first alien lifeform they see? I get the urge to pet animals, even wild ones, but I don't do it. Because I have common sense. He literally knows nothing about it. It could be poisonous or carnivorous or, you know, more like a parasite than a reptile. He had no idea! Idiot.

+ Learning that Vickers was Weyland's daughter put a couple things in a different perspective especially her reaction after the captain asked if she was a robot. Ouch.

+ The execution of her line 'father' didn't work for me. It was placed/said weird. I figured it out as soon as she entered the room.

+ I wish an older actor had been cast as Peter Weyland instead of Guy Pearce in old age makeup. I don't understand that choice.

+ There are two types of fics I want to read now:

a) I want a ton of fics about Elizabeth and David's adventures in space.

b) I want an AU of the end where Vickers survived the ship crashing and joined Elizabeth and David in leaving the planet. We didn't see much of either of the Elizabeth/Vickers or David/Vickers relationships but both had a lot of potential to be fascinating.
