Chuck Versus the Goodybye

I didn't enjoy this episode as much as the previous two but it was an enjoyable episode. It just didn't work completely for me as a finale.

+ I had three issues with it:

- The biggest issue by far was the fact that Sarah never regained her memories. I'm a bit speechless over the fact that the show never undid that. Five years of character and relationship development just gone. It's kind of horrifying. The show ends with Sarah and Chuck kissing with the implication being that she wants to embrace her lost life, plus there are hints of her memories still being there, but it doesn't feel good enough.

- My second issue was how the series ended with so many of the characters splitting off when the series was all about them coming together.

- My third issue was how Chuck's storyline ended - specifically what he planned to do next was never addressed. A large part of the beginning of his story was his disappointment in his dead-end job at the Buy More so I would have expected it to end with him on an obvious career path but - nothing. He apparently sold the Buy More? (And Castle?) Carmichael Industries is done? No mention is made of what Chuck's career plans are and it bugged me a lot.

A flashforward of two or five years could have addressed all of that.

- Sarah (and Morgan) have regained their memories (perhaps Chuck has created something to do it - he has the Intersect plus it would emphasize his geek qualities that have been lacking a bit in this last season).

- Carmichael Industries is a small but growing successful counter cyber-terrorism business just as Sarah and Chuck envisioned it. Chuck mainly uses the Intersect for knowledge as opposed to fighting.

- Casey is back and working with them, Morgan is working with them as well. In fact perhaps they have a large number of employees at this point (including say Corina and Zondra, Mary.... other reoccurring characters from the show)

- Ellie, Devon and Clara have moved back. Perhaps Chuck/Sarah have a kid now, maybe even Morgan/Alex do.

The Rest

+ Sarah walking out of the ocean in her black cat suit was pretty badass but I still don't know how she managed not to kill Quinn. Why didn't she just start shooting as she was walking up to him? Why didn't she throw the bomb towards him?

+ "Your team was your edge, you giant jackass. ... You're afraid that when you're with us that's when you're the best. And that's the truth, man." - Morgan I really like that it was Morgan who confronted Casey. He was the perfect choice and I really liked how that played out.

+ It was great to see Mary again but it did make me wonder all the more about where she's been for the latter half of the season.

+ I loved Devon covering Clara's eyes when he saw Mary with the gun.

+ Chuck's plan to return Sarah's memories bothered me because there was talk of photos and recreating memories from other sources and all I could think was 'but they won't be her memories' so I'm glad that never ended up happening.

+ Chuck with the Intersect again made me really happy. I wanted the series to end with him getting it back. Of course after the crisis no mention is made of the Intersect again, not even by General Beckman, so was it removed again? Did I miss something? I'm choosing to believe he kept it.

+ Jeffster playing 'Take On Me' with the band playing as well and Morgan conducting amused me a lot.

+ I loved Casey hugging Chuck and the way he clasped Sarah's hand between both of his.

+ I liked the resolution to Jeff and Lester - them heading off to Germany to play music is pretty much the best ending they could have hoped for.
