The Last Scandal Thoughts
Feb. 17th, 2011 07:22 pmEpisode 15
• It irritated me that Jae Bin had the sense to have Hoon brought to the hotel and to inform him that he was going to tell the world the entire truth – something that will impact Hoon’s life hugely – and then he didn’t tell him who his mother was. The fact that Hoon didn’t go ‘and who is my mother’ makes me shake my head at TPTB. He may be fine at this point in his life, for the most part, in not knowing his mother but now that it’s been brought up why wouldn’t he be more curious about it?
• I did feel for Na Yoon when she broke down in her room. She was clearly so delusional that she really had managed to convince herself before she returned to Korea that she could get Jae Bin and Hoon back and that they could become this perfect happy family. And while the past episodes have put cracks in that surety it wasn’t enough to break the delusion. She brought the entire thing upon herself but I still feel sad for her.
• I know that Jae Bin is apparently going back to his birth name Dong Chul but I just can’t call him that.
• Jae Bin and Sun Hee were pretty adorable. I loved her sitting on his lap, him wrapping his arms around her waist and her holding onto his arms. I love that he was clearly just very relieved and happy by his decision and getting it out of the way. And I loved their hug at the end.
• “I’m worried about you. You’re going to be shocked.” Aw, he’s so sweet. Ji Min’s excessive reaction to learning the truth about her mom and Jae Bin felt out of proportion and not at the same time. On one hand, comparing her reaction to how Hoon’s been handling everything, and his stuff so much more serious, and she does come off ridiculous. But one the other hand, it does feel in character.
• I find it curious that Hoon doesn’t have more anger at his father for lying to him and that Jae Bin has already forgiven him (though I suppose that being happy makes him forgiving). I am, however, very glad that Dong Hwa’s relationship with his son remains solid. I loved their scene in the bedroom. It was one of my favourite moments of the series. I’m also glad that Dong Hwa and Jae Bin’s relationship has not only recovered but appears to on its way to being stronger than it has been in fifteen years.
• This show made me laugh so hard when Dong Hwa pretended to come on to Jae Bin and then had them wake up, curled together on the pool table. All I could think of was Supernatural and the reaction of the Wincester’s if it did the same thing.
• I was really hoping that Ji Min would overhear her parent’s argument. He is such a foolish and horrible man and I want her to know that. Then when he tried to blackmail Jae Bin – IDIOT. (I didn’t mean that to be all capitals but I’m leaving it because, god, it’s so very true.
• I love Sun Hee’s friend. I loved her wielding a broom at the crush of reporters, keeping them away from Sun Hee’s door. It reminded me of her defending Sun Hee to her in-laws at the beginning of the series. We haven’t seen much of her but she is clearly a good friend to Sun Hee.
