I loved the scene when Milo's mother gives Milo her helmet after his breaks (and then makes it so he can't take it off). Very predictable and yet still very affecting.

I also loved Gribble saving her life by finding and giving her the helmet he'd stolen 20 years previously to save his own mother. I love the symmetry of that.

I loved Ki. She was pretty cool and very fun. I loved her whole hippie delinquent happy-curiosity attitude. She was the best part of the movie.

I loved Ki's glee and fascination over Gribble 'changing colour' which both made complete sense for her character and was really adorable. The whole interspecies love at the end was unexpected.

I also really liked Milo and Gribble.

The ending was way too pat. I realise it's Disney and kids movie but still - the Superviser did not completely change the Martian's whole society herself. There's an infrastructure in place. Plus I don't believe for a second that all the thousands or millions of Martian's would be immediately supportive of things returning back to how it was in a past they can't remember. All I can see happening realistically is a civil war.

The way the genders were segregated and how they were portrayed bothered me. I could go into it further but I don't feel like it - it just bothered me.

I also did not like how the Supervisor was dealt with. Considering that we saw earlier that they used capital punishment I wish they had killed her instead. Or if they didn't want to show that then I wish they hadn't address her fate at all. What they did on the surface isn't bad - forcing her to take care of the kids - but there are undertones there I find so creepy and disturbing. She spearheaded a change in her whole society/species and it feels sort of like... putting her in her place? Like she's a woman who was tired of being a mother/doing all the work, rebelled (took over the plant) and got a job (put herself in charge) and at the end as punishment she was sent back to being a mother/worker. Ugh.

So the human mother's memories are put in the nanny bots but only the discipline part? How the heck was that separated from everything else that they were? Were there really never any leaks of other parts of the moms into the nanny bots? ... I don't even know why I'm wondering about this considering how completely ridiculous the whole idea and 'science' is.

I found it a little weird how when they got back home and the mom tells Milo she loves him and he's all "I know mom". It didn't work for me. The movie was all about Milo realizing how much he loved and needed him mom and learning to appreciate her. So at the end him accepting her declaration of love without returning it (even if he did tell her before) was weird. I think either he should have said it back or, even better, it should have been him saying it and her saying "I know".
