iaria: (Nikita and Alex (Nikita))

It's been so long since I last watched an episode!

2x15 'Origins'

+ I loved the music when Amanda first showed up in Carla's flashback. Her hair not so much.

+ "Usual cast of supporting characters: Gogol thugs in trench-coats, Gogol thugs in suits, Lord Voldemort." - Birkoff. LOL.

+ Birkoff pulling the gun on Carla shocked me. It was really unexpected (though that may simply be because of how long it's been since I last watched the show.) When I think of Birkoff I think of someone who isn't that comfortable with guns even if he knows how to use them, and someone who isn't a killer. He was surprisingly unwavering in this scene. That said I loved it and that he was doing it for Alex.

+ Alex's escape from the hotel - via the combined forces of her being awesome, Division and team Nikita - was great.

+ Carla's behaviour feels very cult-like. She's very much a believer. Or at least she's so focused on her original idea and perhaps redeeming herself by making it work that she's incapable of seeing past her own emotions to see the truth. Poor Nikita. This is not going to end well. Also I want to know more about why Carla trusts Percy so much.

+ Amanda looked honestly upset at the idea of killing Alex which I find interesting.

2x16 'Doublecross'

+ "We made a deal. To save Division. To make it good. Like it was supposed to be. Like I knew it can be. I know it can be. Because it made you. It made you." - Carla. Hmm. This goodbye really makes me wonder if Nikita is going to be shifting her focus with regards to Division now. That instead of trying to destroying it she will try to make Carla's dream a reality by attempting to reform Division into what Carla originally envisioned it to be. I can see Nikita doing that in the name of Carla's memory.

+ This episode actually made me like Carla a bit more, or at least more than in the previous episode. Possibly because her focus on saving Division came off less... creepy even as she was as obsessed as ever. It just didn't rub me the wrong way this time for whatever reason. Minus the whole shooting crazily at Birkoff thing I felt like I understood her more. It's too bad she died because I liked the relationship between Nikita and her and I would have liked to have seen how it would have evolved.

+ "I know she's always been pained by your defection." - Percy. So Percy is a liar, that's established. But he's such a good manipulator because he mixes truth into his lies. This was just an offhand observation (I think) but I don't know if that makes what he said more truthful or not. Still I thought it was interesting. It's been mentioned or implied a couple times before that Nikita is special to Amanda, though I haven't really seen it, and this makes me wonder if that's going to come up again. Maybe we'll even see more of their relationship in the past.

+ I loved Birkoff trying to punch a tied up and drugged Percy in the face and getting, painfully, headbutted in the fist instead. That's just so Percy. And I'm amused by Birkoff trying to be the tough guy with Percy and failing spectacularly.

+ I love that Nikita knew that Carla was working with Percy. Also her plan to lure Roan into position to use him to watch her team's back at the meet was excellent.

+ Biroff's shocked "sorry" after he shot Carla was great.

+ Why wouldn't Birkoff have just dropped Carla off at a hospital? Yeah, it would likely end in her being arrested but it could have also saved her.

+ I loved the Birkoff/Nikita moment at the end and her hugging him. I loved that she was offering him comfort and support even as she was grieving. Their relationship is one of my favourites.

+ The returns of Sean and Ryan actually mostly left me going 'eh, whatever'. Well, more Sean than Ryan. I did like all the Ryan/Nikita stuff while with Sean/Alex I felt nothing.

+ I can't believe that Ari would keep a file complete with picture of a deep undercover agent anywhere. I mean he knows who she is so why even have it? All it is is a liability.

+ I'm beginning to like Sonja more and more even though she still remains rather opaque. It appears that she's the one person in Division Amanda trusts, to a certain degree, and Sonja appears loyal to her. I'd love if Sonja was loyal to Amanda because I feel like Amanda is going to need it and alliances and hidden allies always make things so much more interesting.

+ I also love that we're getting to learn more about other Division agents - not just Sonja but now we also have Dina and Mason. It makes it more interesting when they're actual people.
