Heart of Darkness

"I don't know." - Elena. Yes Elena does know. Everyone knows that she has feelings for Damon. Maybe she doesn't know how strong they are but she knows she has them. What she really doesn't know is what she should, or wants, to do with them. Which is fine, I can understand why she'd be confused and reluctant to go there, but can she just accept that she has those feelings already? This is getting a little annoying.

Personally I'm actually kind of leaning to wanting her to decide she doesn't want to be in a relationship with Damon right now. I ship OT3 and I love them but seriously I think it might be best to just step back from romance with either brother right now.

• That said... I loved all the Elena/Damon scenes. The motel scene with Elena watching half-naked (and HOT) Damon, Damon gently holding her hand in bed, the making out outside (very hot) and the confrontation at the house - all excellent.

- I really love how the gender roles were reversed in this episode. How female-gazey it was with Elena watching half-naked Damon and being all turned on, and how Elena leaves the room after Damon tries to hold her hand and it becomes all too intimate for her, and that Elena basically jumps Damon because she's wants him and not because she loves him so much she can't help herself, and how it's Damon who wants to talk about feelings and Elena who is being all emotionally closed off. I love all of it.

• I loved Rose so it was really nice to see her again. But ugh that Rose/Jeremy exchange was horrible. If they had to have Rose play shipper it could have been done better. Still I'd love to see her again. I'd be completely on board with her sticking around, maybe haunting the manor.

• I liked the Rebekah/Esther scene.

• I find it hard to feel sorry for Rebekah and her "I haven't lived at all" lament. She's 1000 years old! And it's not like she's been daggered almost all that time like Finn was either. She had a millenia and an unbreakable (for long term) body so if she hasn't 'lived' that is completely her own fault.

• The Rebekah/Matt scene was nice. And Rebekah looked gorgeous.

• I enjoyed Damon mocking Jeremy. And telling him to listen to his sister and Jeremy actually doing it lol. Oh, and him slipping Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde into Alaric's overnight bag. Heh.

• Ugh, Tyler, stop being an ass. Him stomping out in a snit over Caroline keeping the picture Klaus drew her made me roll my eyes at him so much. Frankly if anything he should be worried for Caroline that a unkillable psycho is interested in her.

• I liked Matt helping Caroline escape school so she could go see Tyler and I liked his somewhat awkward request for her to tell him hi.

• I feel like a part of the reason Stefan sent Damon with Elena to get Jeremy was because he wanted to spare Damon having to possibly torture his best friend (whether Damon could have done it or not).

• Did Damon un-Compel Jeremy or did either of them explain to him the deal with the Gilbert rings? The fact that hugely important bits of information like this is left unanswered annoys me.

• Why would Abby's death sever Esther's connection to the Bennett line when Bonnie is still alive?

• Rebekah taking Alaric, alone, to get the stake from the cave seemed like a very bad idea to me and while I understood in the final scene why 'she' did it why would Klaus have gone along with it? It makes more sense to me to grab a random human off the street, Compel them, and send them in to retrieve it.

• Even thought Esther is possessing Rebekah the body is still a vampire even if the person inside isn't so why wouldn't the no-vampire spell not continue to work? Is it because she's a witch?
