The Vampire Diaries 4x05 Review

• I loved everything about that last Elena/Connor confrontation. That she bit him and then let him go, her "Stay away from my brother", and her calm "you missed" to him before casually breaking his neck. Awesome!
• But then you have Elena writing in her diary that she lost control. Elena didn't lose control. In fact during her whole scene with Connor she was in complete control - including when she chose to kill Connor. So are we supposed to buy that Elena 'lost control' or is this part of Elena's denial? Because if it's the former I'm not going to be happy.
I guess I just really want Elena to accept who she is now. To stop with the whining and crying, pull up her big girl shorts and accept that this is her life now and deal with it. That's an aspect of Elena I've always loved - horrible shit happens to her but she deals with the crap she needs to and keeps living - and her.... dithering since being turned is beginning to irritate me. Also seriously - why the hell is Caroline mentoring Elena not part of this story?
ALSO - I am having a problem with Elena freaking out so much about killing Connor. She didn't munch on April, or some random innocent. She killed a Hunter - who has tried to kill a number of people she loves including her brother, who will continue to be a threat against them, who just tried to kill her.
So basically, yeah I'm having issues with the way the show is portraying vampire Elena.
• "A cure for her. A cure for Elena." - Stefan Ughhhhh! This is annoying me so much. It's not a cure for Elena it's a cure for vampirism and it could effect so much more than her. What about Stefan bringing up that it could be a cure for him and Damon? What about Stefan acknowledging in any way that this could have import to him outside of Elena?
• Man, the secret keeping in this town is out of control.
• I liked Jeremy giving April his vervain bracelet.
• I'm really glad that Tyler didn't sleep with Hailey and he was just trying to throw Klaus off.
• Wait, so Bonnie hasn’t been able to do magic since trying to save Elena? I thought she simply wasn’t using it because of what happened?
• I find it a little weird that Bonnie takes Shane hypnotizing her - to the extent that she loses 7 hours and also he can make her do things without her realising it - and she smiles about it instead of being creeped out. WTF? That is creepy!
