Jun. 17th, 2010 03:04 pmI just finished Going Under the third book in the Quantum Gravity series by Justina Robson and I can’t wait until I can read the next one. It’s interesting because for most of the first book my interest in it was only so-so and while by the end I was interested enough to want to read the next book it was only part way through that book that I came to really enjoy the series. By the third book I was completely absorbed in the story. ( very short thoughts )
Criminal Minds
Apparently TPTB have cut JJ completely from the show, reduced Emily to a handful of episodes next season and while Garcia is staying as a permanent cast member she won’t be in every episode. WTF?! I’m sure TPTB see no gender fail happening here since they’ll be adding a new female character next season so clearly it’s alright, right? Uhg. The fact that in the cast it was only the three female characters affected is just... wrong. How could they not see that? This show is usually so great at the gender stuff with its main cast. This makes me so mad. I can understand cutting cast for financial reasons sort of, though that in no way makes cutting only the female cast any better, but CBS coming back to say that it’s not financial based but rather creative and a ‘way to refresh a veteran drama series’ makes it much worse. Are they freaking kidding?! How does ‘oh, we’re not cutting the female characters because of financial woes but because creatively we apparently have no more story/interest in the female characters, only the male ones’ make this anything but an entirely sexist decision? Which it would have been even if it had been made because of financial reasons but ‘creative’ reasons just puts it right out there for what it is. Freaking hell.
What ‘creative’ reason is there for Emily to stop being on the team full time? Answer: There is no reason. In fact of the team she is the one who has the least amount of reasons to be gone. I can already see how they’re going to make JJ leave, and it even makes sense and has build up (her son) even if it’ll annoy me if they do it, but Hotch and Morgan both have even better reason to be gone (Hotch being the only parent to his son now, Morgan being promoted). Frankly if I had to choose for someone to leave it would be Rossi, who I actually do really like now, but who could go without a huge hole. But I’d rather none of them leave. I honestly don’t know if I can continue to watch it next season if all these changes go through. I think it’ll be that last little push that’ll make me stop watching.
Being Human
I watched the first season, though it feels weird to call six episodes a first season, and I enjoyed it well enough. I didn’t love it or think it was especially good. Just... nice enough. I don’t know that I would keep watching except the second season only has eight episodes so why not?
