I have to give it to this series these MV's are always enthralling and beautiful to watch. I honestly can't wait till the next one. This one, I was deeply interested the entire way through, though I did find it pretty confusing.

To start with I was expecting this to be part 3 of Tự tâm but then only the white haired guy was the same. And this time he was emperor. Both the concubine and the male lover/bodyguard were different actors from the king/queen so about half way through I stopped thinking about it and accepted that this was maybe a different universe? Except then the king shows up for a quick cameo fighting zombies and then disappears again so... ???? I have no idea where the hell to place this.

It makes me really wish that the actress for the queen had been brought back to play the concubine because then it would seem obvious to me that this was a prequel to the previous two MVs where we were seeing a previous incarnation for everyone. I'd have loved this I can't lie.

I read on FFA that part 3 was filmed and completed but there was a conflict with the sponsor that made them not release it. When I read it I assumed this video was the part 3 since it was linking but now I realise I misread the intent - there is a part 3 to, presumably, follow directly after CANH BA (wherein it deals with future!incarnation of white haired guy showing up to meet the king) but that it hasn't/won't be released. Instead Denis Đặng [white-haired guy and also script writer/creative director of all the mvs] produced this instead. So it's a part of the series but like one step to the side.

I spent some time wondering what the hell was happening, lol!? Obviously bodyguard was deeply jealous of the concubines. He used the new favoured concubine to take out the previous one but also to create zombies -- perhaps in an effort to wipe out all the competition aka concubines? The zombies were just really unexpected!

And then they were defeated and we got the quick cameo of the king character and what? Who was he? What is his place in this specific story? But then he's gone.

I loved that the emperor chose to protect the concubine, to fake her death, erase her memory and then set her somewhere she'd be safe. I'm very glad that she survived and that his feelings for her proved to be as strong as hers for him. But at the same time I have to wonder why he would go to such an extent.

Clearly male lover set her up with the whole zombie powder situation but the emperor knows that and he's the emperor so can't he simply pardon her? And honestly in that final table confrontation it didn't seem as if she was a prisoner or had lost status over the zombies. So if not that then... he thinks she'll always be in danger from male lover? In which case kill the bodyguard. Or if he's unwilling to give him up then fine send her away... except then he specifically takes them by where she's now living. You can't tell me that was a coincidence. The emperor wanted the bodyguard to see her alive. So I'm left confused about the emperor's motivations here.

Other points:

+ I really appreciate that the concubine lashing out at the former-favourite concubine wasn't out of jealousy or an attempt to step on an enemy, but rather was about protecting herself and lashing out at her tormentor.

+ I'm super curious about what exactly lover said to concubine when he gave her the powder. Clearly based on her reaction it wasn't 'this will turn her into a zombie'.

+ Bodyguard going to such an extreme of creating a mini-zombie apocalypse to take out his romantic competition was kind of delightful.

+ The switch from zombie apocalypse to everyone sitting tensely around a table + murder attempt was really abrupt. I wonder how much time passed between the two. Concubine tried to kill him because she knew he'd set her up and was still a threat to her, yes?
