Covert Affairs 2x02 ‘Good Advices’
This was a much better episode than 2x01. I really enjoyed it. But then it brought back my favourite one off character from last season Eyal Lavine so that's not a surprise. I love his relationship with Annie and I think they have some excellent chemistry. I totally ship them most even though he’s only been in two episodes. I find his interactions with Annie far more interesting than Ben.
- I was getting a threesomey vibe from Annie, Eyal and Selma especially once she suggested they leave the party. After she asked if they couldn’t drive around for awhile I was half-expecting her to kiss Annie. I mean we had Eyal say straight out that he was seducing Selma as his method to get the needed information from her so why not Annie as well?
- I know that Annie is very taken by Eyal and that she is very new to the spy business and never finished her training but her letting Eyal steal the memory card made her look incompetent. Although to be fair I thought he was removing a bug he’d put on her. It would have been nice if at the end Annie had revealed that she’d switched the memory card.
- If Annie is going to keep going on missions I really think they need to train her to use guns and then give her one. She’s a spy. People shoot at her and attack her. Why the hell doesn’t she have one?
I've been watching the Claymore anime and enjoying it.
- I was a bit disappointment at first because from what I'd read about the series I was expecting a bunch of kick ass women interacting but during the first four episodes Clare only interacts with male characters to any degree and it’s only male supporting characters who are given any speaking roles. I found it annoying. Once we get to Theresa things get better – she has Clare of course, we actually get a female villager with a line, and then best of all we’re introduced to four other Claymores who interact amongst themselves and with Theresa.
- I like the Theresa/Clare team better than Clare/Raki one. I found Theresa’s bewilderment in the beginning on how to deal with Clare amusing. Her line about having Clare around being ‘what it must be like to have a pet’ made me laugh. I loved Theresa slowly growing to love Clare and Clare’s love for Theresa in turn.
- I still don’t know if the little girl Clare is the grown up Clare and all the episodes with Theresa are taking place in the past or not. It would be weird to have two different Clare’s with significant roles. I thought Clare’s red hair disqualified her but then every Claymore has blonde hair so presumably it changes like their eyes. But then in adult Clare’s last episode she took medicine to change her eye colour to what I thought was supposed to be her natural colour – and they were brown which is not the same colour as young Clare. So I don’t actually know. I'm leaning towards the whole Theresa/Clare episodes being flashbacks but I'm hoping not because I love them and I don't want them to end.
- I do like Raki. I like how protective and supportive of Clare he is.
- I’m getting a Buffy vibe from the Claymore organisation – powerful women sent out to fight evil while in the background men control things. So far we’ve only seen men in black robes directing Claymore’s. I wonder if it's going to play out in a similar way?
