The Queen is Dead

* Snow was pretty much in an impossible situation in the clock tower. My first instinct was to scream 'don't give it to her!' but the more I think about it the more I think Snow made the best choice.

It seems on the surface like Snow made a horrible decision all around - she gives in to threats (showing her enemies exactly how to get to her) and more importantly gives the bad guys a powerful weapon (that could be used to kill countless people). She knows exactly how ruthless Cora and Regina are and had no reason to think they'd let Johanna live. There is a lot of reason not to give Cora the dagger.

Except... Cora has magic that no one in Storybrooke can counter. So say Snow said no and Regina killed Johanna - then what? I very much doubt Cora's going to go 'oh, well then, I give up'. No, what Cora would do is go and grab Ruby or Grumpy or random person #54 and then go through the exact same situation again and again. Or she'd burn down a building or otherwise put other people at risk to force Snow to give it to her. So exactly how long is Snow supposed to hold on to the dagger and say no? How many people should she watch die before she gives the dagger up? Because you know that Cora would have no problem killing everyone in town to get what she wanted.

For this reason I think Snow absolutely made the right decision. Especially when you consider the fact that it's a useless weapon while Rumpelstiltskin isn't in Storybrooke which gives them time (as far as they know) to get it back.

- Plus it's easy for me to say 'don't make the exchange' since it's not my loved one being threatened with death. It's easy from a distance to say one loved one vs potential numerous stranger casualties would be an easy choice to make but I really don't think it is.

* I was hoping that Regina was playing her mother but it doesn't appear so. Oh, Regina, what are you doing? It's like she tried, a bit, for redemption then decided it wasn't happening fast enough/took too much effort and gave up on it.

* I feel like Regina's plan here with regards to Henry is exactly the same as Rumpelstiltskin's at it's base - take away their sons' memories so they can start over without having to deal with their bad decisions or take responsibility for them. And it's still stupid (even if not as much).

* I am super interested in the connection between Cora and Eva. Cora's goodbye to Eva('s corpse) was fascinating.

* I'm hoping that the knife is a fake. I feel like Rumpelstiltskin wouldn't have trusted Emma/Snow/et al that easily. Though that was a good hiding spot.
