5x22 'Still'

I loved this episode. I thought it was delightful which is a little surprising since it turned out to be a clip show. But I thought the clips were well done and more importantly well-placed and worked within the story of the episode.

* Something that really struck me this ep was just how happy Beckett was.

* I love Castle dragging Beckett into a debate/argument to distract her. I love the way that Beckett knows exactly what Castle is doing and yet she can’t help but react and get involved. Also how amusing she finds him even when her life is in danger.

* "When I was thinking back I was momentarily distracted by your dizzying array of hairstyles over the years." – Castle. LOL. I love how hard Beckett is fighting back a smile but can’t manage it.

* I loved them arguing over who liked who first. Them calling Esposito for a third opinion was funny, as was Esposito and Ryan’s reaction. I loved them just completely ignoring the fight.

* I can’t believe that Esposito put the call on speaker - in the middle of the station. It's a secret! He had no idea what could have been said. Yeesh.

* I love that Esposito is willing to do anything to save his friends but he should know that torture doesn’t work.

* This exchange:

"That’s not how I meant it. I can’t help it if you get off putting things in my mouth." - Beckett
"See. Like that. I can’t even – it’s uncanny." - Castle

LOL. I kind of can't believe the show got away with that line.

* I loved Beckett’s goodbye to Castle – “Rick. I love you.” – and the fact that she called him by his first name.

* I really loved the reveal that Gates knows about Beckett/Castle and has known for awhile.

* Castle staying with Beckett and then coming back for her at the end with coffees and the trigger was amazing from the standpoint of a lover/partner/friend but as a parent (especially considering how close he and Alexis are) that was less amazing.

* So does this mean the show is moving to DC for next season? Hmm.

- If it did I'd certainly miss our supporting cast. I could easily see Alexis and Martha still showing up but it'd be harder with Esposito, Ryan, Lanie and Gates. Well - except that with them no longer working together perhaps they could still show up as Beckett and Castle's friends? That could be nice.

- Beckett made it very clear this episode that she really does want the DC job and for that reason I do want her to get it. I feel like if she turns it down at this point it would be contrived or at least a bad choice on her part.

I think a location change and presumably an almost complete supporting cast change could take a bit to get used to but I love Beckett and Castle and I think it could work if done well. And frankly if they backtracked in 6x01, dropped the DC job and kept everything the same I would not be happy.

* "So whatever happens, whatever you decide..." I'm taking from this that Castle means that he will support her choice 100%. Which is great because he is completely able to do so. I think they could do a long-distance relationship especially considering it's not actually that far (at least according to show travel time). But Castle could also easily move to DC to be with Beckett - and this is what I am really hoping happens next season. (And if the show actually goes to DC probably will happen.)

Alexis is in New York, sure. But she's also at school most of the time and Castle certainly has the money and flexibility in his job to visit whenever he wants. Same with Martha. They could have a family dinner once a week even. Castle's a writer - he can do that anywhere.

- The biggest issue would be how they'd get Castle involved in Beckett's cases but honestly I don't really care? He's been basically working as her partner for 5 years and I believe he spent time with the FBI in the past, plus his dad. Whatever, I'll buy it.

* The proposal was a bit... lacking. I guess I was expecting something with a bit more flair from Castle even considering the circumstances.

* I loved the Castle/Martha conversation.

* I really liked Bates supportiveness of Beckett.
