Episode 1

• Sun Hee turning around to find Jae Bin standing behind him and doing the perfect spit take all over him made me laugh.

• Jae Bin is very much a spoiled rich guy but he was actually pretty adorable with Ji Min which speaks well for him.

• I have to say I feel a little bad for Ji Min considering that the series is going to end with her mother ending up with her celebrity crush. That will probably be a little weird.

• Plus what is with Sun Hee hitting her?! When she did the flying leap and kicked Ji Min in the face I was sure that it had to be a fantasy sequence – and then it wasn’t. 0_0 Ji Min wasn’t hurt by it at all so in a way it was a fantasy sequence but it didn’t work for me. Women kicking or hitting their love interests? Sure. But kicking or hitting their child is something completely different. I just find that unacceptable even in a fantasy way like this.

• It appears that Dong Hwa is going to have a crush on Sun Hee going by his complimentary “how many women her age can laugh like that” and then laughing with her as she laughed. It wasn’t him laughing or being amused at her but rather her laughing being so infectious he had to as well which I liked.

• I don’t know if I’m just being obtuse or if there’s a cultural issue at play but I don’t understand why Sun Hee winning a condo in the lottery wouldn’t continue to be a good thing after learning about the debt? In fact it’s even more important now because while she won’t get to live in it giving it over to the lenders/bank will cut her debt down by a hell of a lot. I don’t understanding why it was a bad thing.

Episode 2

• Min Ju using her school money to buy a Jae Bin autographed picture does not equal Ji Min ‘taking’ her money. I was pretty much completely on Ji Min’s side this episode – her father is gone all the time and then not only gets arrested but basically bankrupts the family. She probably knows exactly how hard her mother is working to try and fix it and how stressed she is and so she’s trying to do her own part to help. Plus she’s probably really stressed herself. We also get to see a bit of her anger towards her grandmother coming out which from what little I’ve seen is completely deserved. Nothing about her behaviour strikes me as ‘bad’.

• Sun Hee hits her daughter way too much and it is making me uncomfortable. The fact that she completely overreacts, IMO, to things Ji Min does – skipping school, charging people for autographed pictures, stating their situation is her father’s fault – makes it worse. I felt bad for her when she broke down crying on her daughter’s bed but her behaviour is making it hard for me to love her. I’m finding her a lot less immediately likable then pretty much every other heroine I’ve come across.

• I did not see the end coming though – I thought Sun Hee was going to ask for a loan as she originally was planning. I have no idea where the hell she came up with ‘selling’ herself for a day. I mean in his speech he stated that ‘if ever he could use his money to help her’ and there was nothing about it being conditional to being with him. That part came completely out of nowhere. My reaction is more WTF and eye rolling instead of the usual amused ‘oh, dramas’ one.

Episode 3

• Sun Hee’s in-laws are so obnoxious and unpleasant that it’s actually unpleasant to watch. God, it’s hard to think that I actually disliked Yeom Shin on Dal Ja's Spring because compared to these people she was wonderful. The things they said to Sun Hee, blaming her for everything, especially since they know the truth about what is going on with her husband, was so ridiculous and hateful. They are just completely detestable – horrible, horrible people. I don’t even know if I want them redeemed and given depth or if I just want them to suffer (preferably from Sun Hee marrying Jae Bin, and becoming famous and rich in her own right). At the moment it’s definitely the latter. I mean not once does her husband give any thought to his daughter but neither do his mother and sister. God, I hate them.

• I loved Sun Hee’s friend getting so angry on her behalf and getting in the in-laws faces, especially when Sun Hee faltered in the face of their vitriol. I also really liked that she smacked down Sun Hee’s attempts at taking the blame after they left.

• Poor Ji Min who heard it all. A silver lining at least is that we shouldn’t ever see her turning on her mom or blaming her for things. I really hope that Sun Hee and Ji Min’s relationship gets better as the series goes one. I want more of them bonding and being there for each other, and a hell of a lot less yelling and hitting.
