Nikita 3x09 Thoughts

• I actually really hope they don't find a way to get Michael his hand back, whatever that means. A better robot hand? Sure. A cloned hand that's basically having his hand back? No. Absolutely not. That would feel like such a cop-out.
• Birkoff was really amusing. I loved his disgust with Owen's first attempt at undercover. I liked his musing about Owen vs Bear being something he'd want to see. The best line of the episode goes to him:
"How's Owen doing?" - Michael
"Like a puppy trying to catch a butterfly." - Birkoff

• I was really pleased that Alex got to do something mission related this episode. I like that she figured out how to find Ray's hideout.
• Why was Alex never considered for the position of Nikita's partner? Sure, she's benched at the moment but it's not permanent nor something that will continue long term. She seems the obvious choice considering they were partners in the past and she has all the right skills but everyone talks about Owen as if he will be her permanent partner. It doesn't make sense to me. Alex is the obvious partner for Nikita. Why the distance between them this season - both in character and in shared scenes? I don't like it.
• I really liked Nikita bringing up the whole 'he can take her with one arm' scene and the intercut of the flashback with them in the present. I liked Nikita continuing to try and reach out to Michael and help and reassuring him of her love. "If you want to move on I understand but I will never move on from you." They still have really great chemistry.
• Still not really feeling Alex/Sean though their scenes were okay. I do like that Alex has someone of her own. (Especially considering how distant things are with her and Nikita right now.)
• Some really nice Nikita/Owen scenes. They make interesting partners but I really loved both their lines showing just how much they care about each other.
- "You'll never have to worry about me protecting Nikita. That's something I will always do. No thanks needed." - Owen
- "Look, you want to have my back? Watch out for the people I care about. That includes you." - Nikita
• I really liked Kate. I liked that she got to take steps in saviing herself - by using her ATM to buy pop and then attacking Ray with the shovel.
• Owen's line about him deciding to disregard Michael's orders to return to base bugged me. That definitely seems like Nikita's decision not his for a number of reasons. And it was a small line but it felt out of character in a way? Like, that's what Nikita would do but they wanted it to be Owen's decision so they could have that Owen/Michael interaction and so it stuck out to me.
• I really have to wonder about Division agents training considering how easily they keep being taken out. It was especially noticable this episode. Like - they know there are booby-traps but don't pay attention. The last agent should have noticed that wire. This really stood out when afterward everyone else is running around the area just fine.
