Haven 'Magic Hour' Thoughts

• Audrey/Duke! Fabulous episode for them. The kisses! I was not expecting the show to go there, not yet, but I loved. I loved exactly how it played out even Audrey backing off. I loved their moment at the car when they got back to Haven - with Duke promising to keep her secret about James and her actually bringing up their almost sexy times - with a smile! Loved their smiles there. They're adorable.
Duke: You can scold me later.
Audrey: No way, this is the sweetest form of thievery ever.
Duke: I'm a sweet thief.
♥
• "Audrey, I'd do anything you needed me to." - Duke. Once again Duke was amazing. He jokes at the beginning of the episode that he 'gives great moral support' but he really, really does. He has been there for Audrey 100% - supporting her, encouraging her, helping her in whatever way she needed. I love how he doesn't even once show the slightest bit of jealousy - over James or Nathan. He just sincerely wants her to be happy without his own feelings coming into it at all. I love it. He's so wonderful. I love that Audrey's realised just how amazing he is and told him so.
• My biggest worry right now is that Nathan's death, along with her realisation in Colorado that she needs to live in the present, will cause Audrey to decide she wants to be with Nathan post-resurrection (because, duh, that's happening) and poor Duke will be left behind.
• I loved how as soon as they saw Nathan’s body Duke immediately ran to his side.
• The Colorado Kid is Audrey's son! Wow. Definitely did not see that coming. I was actually getting kind of annoyed about how fixated Audrey was on the fact that Lucy loved James and how she kept bringing it up. So, Sarah... could James be the son of Sarah and Vince?
• "How's Officer Grumpy?" / "Grumpy." Heh.
• I did not see Tommy as the Bolt Gun Killer coming at all. It leaves a lot of questions and right now it doesn't really seem to fit. He didn't even show up until the third episode. We know that he's a killer but that murder didn't appear to have anything to do with anything in Haven. Who did he kill? What about the video evidence? Is he actually Troubled? A shapeshifter? Is the Bolt Gun Killer actually more than one person?
• There was a lot of exposition this episode. Lots of characters repeating things we already know. It was annoying and kind of weird.
3x08 'Part 2'
• "I've always loved you. I always will love you." - Audrey Great acting from Emily Rose in this scene.
• "You better pray that your girlfriend can bring my friend back to life." - Duke. Duke still loves him! Despite what an utter ass Nathan is being right now he is still Duke's friend, and Duke will still do anything to save him. I wish Nathan could have seen that.
• I loved how completely focused both Audrey and Duke were on saving Nathan. I liked how dark Audrey was willing to go to save him. But a part of me wonders why the show didn't in the end have her go dark to do it. Everything turned out the best it could but I kept thinking about a couple episodes back and how Duke killed someone - to save others and because Audrey asked him to. It would have added a nice symmetry if Audrey had been forced to make a morally-questionable choice to save Nathan instead of just threatening to.
• I like how accepting Audrey is of Duke's Trouble. Nathan's afraid and suspicious of it but Audrey just accepts it and uses it as needed.
• I really enjoyed the Jordan/Audrey scenes. I love so much how they interacted with each other. Despite both of them loving Nathan there was not one hint of sniping or jealousy towards each other. They worked together to save Nathan. I loved Audrey stepping back after Nathan revived so Jordan could be by his side and the little moment when she does and Jordan touches her arm.
• There was a lot of emotionally pulling away this episode and it being shown by the people in question physically pulling away. Audrey despite confessing her love to dead Nathan is still pulling away from him because she knows she's going to be disappearing in 23 days and we see this in her making way for Jordan. Duke was pulling away from Audrey this episode - his physical distance with Audrey this episode especially in the livingroom when Nathan was dead, as well as cutting off talk about Colorado - because Audrey is disappearing in 23 days and on top of that is in love with Nathan.
• I buy the Jordan/Nathan relationship from Jordan's side pretty completely but not as much from Nathan's. It was a major problem I had with 3x06 - Nathan caring for Jordan that much felt abrupt and just didn't have enough lead up for me.
• I notice Vince didn't really answer Audrey's question - he said Sarah never told anyone who the father was not that he didn't know. That he approached her and apologised, the way he spoke and looked at her - I still think it's him.
• Yeah, Tommy's totally not dead. Not after actually getting information out of the Teagues (bad Dave) and 'dying' so conveniently (both publicly and with no body). Plus he's been to Haven before and is a Troubled. His story isn't close to done. I wonder what his trouble is - something to do with the explosion?
• Audrey has finally helped a Troubled this season! That was really nice to see. It was also nice to see them get a happy ending.
• So the Teagues are Troubled, right? I feel like they are. I thought after learning about all their hidden money that perhaps they had a money making ability. But we have several times over the seasons gotten unexpected moments of menace from them and their threatening Tommy while tied-up made me go 'hmm'. It could have just been bluster. But the calm way they were talking, the way Vince said "I'm going to really enjoy killing you" has me wondering if they have a more dangerous Trouble after all.
• "You know, you always come back with a different name, but underneath you're always somehow the same." - Vince I like this. That no matter the other identities Audrey is given her true self always shines through. I hope we get to meet her.
