Haven Thoughts

• There was a surprising lack of significant Nathan/Duke considering that they a) spend a fair amount of time together and b) get sent into the past together. All season Nathan has been on the 'Duke and his family are evil killers' side and has been a huge dick to Duke. Now he gets to see a new side of Roy, he sees Duke's conflict up close. But we don't really get anything from him, no acknowledgement that he might be wrong, or that his behaviour might have been unwarranted, or even that he's sorry for how he's acted.
• Nathan sleeping with Sarah actually squicks me a bit. It just felt - wrong. I loved her propositioning him and from her side I had no problem. Once again my issue is with Nathan and specifically in this case with the fact that he knows that Sarah will be Audrey, that he's in love with Audrey and so it feels like he's using Sarah as her proxy (without her knowledge).
• I do not like that the Colorado Kid is Sarah and Nathan's son.
• I'm... torn on Sarah's origin story. I guess it depends on whether Sarah is the first life or simply one in a line? I was learning towards it being the first life at the beginning which made me dislike it. She comes to Haven for the first time as a normal nurse and time travel Nathan convinces her to help Troubled, what? I wasn't a fan.
But then at the end with Howard in 1955 and the repeat of the pilot makes me think that Sarah Verne is in fact yet another stolen identity. I like that much better. With Sarah just another in a line of lives I quite like her arriving as a tough and competent war nurse who cares deeply about her patients.
• "I may have saved one person's life. It was instinct." - Duke. I love this line. That is so Duke.
• It was nice to see Chief Wournos again. I loved his and Audrey's hug.
3x10 'Burned'
• Nathan and Duke! They were practically back to normal and it was so nice. There were no snide remarks from Nathan, excepting the 'usual' ones he would have made in previous seasons. He actually seemed worried about Duke several times. At the end Nathan voluntarily touched Duke, and not in an aggressive way, and asked if he was good. They had a moment! A moment of shared understanding. They haven't had one of those since last season. It was wonderful. I guess their trip into '55 actually did have an affect on Nathan. Now hopefully this sticks.
• Duke was adorable with Ginger at the police station. I loved how excited he got when she got his joke. Aww.
• Wait, did we know that Duke had a daughter? I don't remember that.
• I'm glad Tommy was revealed to have actually been killed by the Bolt Gun Killer way back at the end of his first episode because everything makes so much more sense now and, in fact, everything actually ties together really well.
• On the Audrey helping Troubled count - once again she gets to help someone. Yay! Granted she didn't really do anything too special to help Ginger but it still counts.
• "We can't just abandon one child for another. We've got to help this little girl. It's what we're here to do, right?" - Audrey. I liked this line. Even worried about her son and everything else that's going on Audrey isn't going to be distracted from helping someone Troubled, because that is what she does.
• I liked Jordan so it's too bad that it's ended this way. I'd wondered why the Guard wouldn't be working with Audrey if they were all about helping the Troubled but now it makes sense - they want to keep the schedule of 27 year breaks free of the Troubles, perhaps believing that is the best they could ever get, while Audrey in her lives is trying for a more permanent fix. Or at least Audrey is. Lucy tried to escape her fate - was she of the same mind as Audrey (ending the Troubles forever)?
• I've never believed that Nathan loved Jordan. Care for her, sure. But even then I didn't completely buy that it was that serious for him. He felt a connection to her because of their similar Trouble, sympathy because of it and he liked her. But I didn't buy it as much more than that and felt the show did a bad job of building it as more on Nathan's side. Jordan I bought. But now it looks like I was right? He cared but nothing really more than as a friend?
Was he playing Jordan this whole time than? That is playing to her vulnerabilities, and pretending to care for her more then he did to stay on her good side. Or was he telling the truth back in the haunted mansion episode and did unexpectedly grow to care for her, just not love nor anything close to what he feels for Audrey? The first is - bad, so I'm choosing to believe the second because Nathan comes out looking better.
• So who is the skinwalker Troubled (they're Troubled right?) being now? I feel like it has to be one of the new characters - Claire, Jordan or the M.E. I'm doubtful it's Jordan. So Claire or the M.E. - I'd rather it the latter. I really hope it's not one of the Teagues. They wouldn't do that right?
