Dal Ja’s Spring Episode 18 Review

I loved that the show played a Sailor Moon theme (it’s the Serenity/Endymion one right? God, I can’t even remember) at the beginning of this episode’s preview/recap. It made me ridiculously happy.
• This episode gave me some of what I found lacking in the previous episode when Tae Bong tells Soo Jin some of why he likes Dal Ja – “She’s warm and a good person. When we’re together it’s fun and happy.” - Aw. Of course she was asking if he loved her and took this response as a no but I think he’s loved her for a long time now. He just hasn’t been able to admit it to himself.
• Tae Bong comparing the Dal Ja/Ki Joong relationship to his with Soo Jin was ridiculous. I wish Dal Ja had called him on it.
• “We were once friends. Our relationship was closer than just friends.” – Ms. Kang I really want to know more about this. Does she mean closer like as a sister or closer in a romantic way? One thing that bothered me was that Ms. Kang specifically asked Dal Ja to giver Jung Ae her regards... and then we got nothing. Actually we got a scene of grandmother pointing out that Dal Ja hasn’t been over and then a montage of Tae Bong returning home exhausted indicating a time jump. So did Dal Ja ever pass Ms. Kang message along?
• I wasn’t expecting the Yeom Shin/Shin Wook/Jung Ae storyline to go the way it now seems to be headed. I thought Shin Wook and Jung Ae would get back together and instead we have Shin Wook returning home, apologising and vowing to do better. I’m actually glad that it seems to be going in this direction. I loved how surprised and pleased Yeom Shin and her father were in that scene.
• I wish we’d seen Dal Ja massaging Tae Bong’s sore shoulders/back like he did for her.
• I wonder if we’re supposed to think of Soo Jin a romantic rival for Dal Ja? It seems pretty obvious that she’s not. She may still want Tae Bong but he isn’t interested in her. Plus the fact that he didn’t fight for her in the past, after being lovers for three years and friends for longer whereas he fought Ki Joong for Dal Ja before they were even together speaks volumes.
