The Vampire Diaries 4x14 Review

OMG! A part of me couldn't believe the show did that but on the other hand it's TVD so... it happens. I'm still trying to process. I think I've been away from the show for too long because that end really got to me.
Since it is TVD Jeremy is pretty much dead dead, isn't he? I'm actually pretty sad about that. Jeremy has never been my favourite character but I've been liking him more with every season. I love his relationship with Elena, have been liking his relationship with Bonnie more than ever this season and was hoping for a slow re-build with them and liked his relationships with Damon and Matt a lot.
• I'm choosing to believe that ghost!Jeremy is now hanging out with ghost!Alaric watching over their friends. I mean ghost!Alaric did promise Jeremy that he'd never be alone.
• I can't believe that the show seriously killed off Elena's last family member (Katherine doesn't count). Poor Elena. Though I have to say I'm interested in seeing how she deals with it. A part of me really wants to see her just completely lose her shit. Dark!Elena could be really fun.
• Oh Katherine you are such a bitch. And it's not a compliment this time! She easily could have used Harper to wake Silas instead of feeding Jeremy to him.
• I figured out it was Katherine when Elena was attacked and was both excited to have her back on the show but also very worried that she might end up getting killed. The only real problem I was having was I couldn't figure out why she would want the cure? She just never seemed as enamored with being human as other vampires, revelled in fact in being a vampire. Perhaps she means to use it on Klaus so she never has to fear him again? As for how she figured out what was happening, it's Katherine so I buy her keeping a close eye on things in Mystic Falls.
• I really liked both the Elena/Stefan talks. The first one was great. I liked them coming to a... sort of peace and acceptance with each other.
- The second one however nice had the problem of being really badly timed. At that point things were quickly winding down and they knew Bonnie/Jeremy (possibly Damon) were in trouble, Silas could be awoken at anytime, Rebekah had gone after the cure to use it on herself... wtf, you guys?! This is not the freaking time for a casual heart-to-heart. I was mentally yelling 'priorities!' throughout the scene which kind of interfered with what was otherwise a nice scene.
• All that said I loved Elena making peace with being a vampire. "So it's about time I accept the person I am now." Yes! I've been wanting this from the beginning.
- I also loved her realising that they needed the cure for Klaus and her "Pity party over, we have to go."
• I love vampire conversations. I really loved how during Elena's call to Caroline everyone could hear each other just fine, so despite Stefan/Rebekah standing apart from Elena, you got them reacting to something Caroline said, and Caroline reacting to something Stefan said. It's a little thing but I really liked it. Of course then you have to wonder how neither Elena or Stefan heard Klaus telling Rebekah the truth about the cure.
• "And I get very upset when I can't provide for my loved ones." - Damon ♥
• I really love all the little moments of Elena actually being a vampire and using the gifts that gives her. Her jumping off the cliff and landing easily was pretty badass.
• I loved Rebekah telling Stefan the truth - and then breaking his neck when things appeared to not be going her way.
• I'm sad that the Stefan/Elena/Rebekah team-up ended up being nothing. I was excited about it.
• I really enjoyed Klaus all episode. From him taunting Caroline/Tyler with his knowledge, to giving Rebekah the go ahead to use the cure and telling her the truth to his own version of mercy - a head start - for Caroline. It all worked for me.
• Bonnie/Jeremy continued to be really wonderful. I loved the scene where he acted as an anchor for her when she hallucinated Grams. I really was starting to like them. Sigh - there go my dreams of a Bennett/Gilbert union running Mystic Falls in the future and having a bunch of badass witch babies.
• I liked Caroline's acknowledgement that she wouldn't have taken the cure.
• The Caroline/Tyler goodbye - meh. I was left unmoved. Possibly because we've been here before?
• I loved Stefan's worry for Damon and him staying behind to help Damon.
• Poor Bonnie having to watch Jeremy being killed while she laid helpless watching. I really, really want some Elena/Bonnie grieving together at some point.
• I felt like there was a little bit too much contrivance to get everyone together at the right times. So Elena/Stefan chatted so Rebekah/Damon could be taken out by Vaughn; Stefan couldn't free Damon immediately so Elena would go alone and get taken out by Katherine.
