The Walking Dead

1) They killed Bonnie?! I refuse to believe it. I mean she's still there, hanging around with her ghost grandma, so somehow in the next episode they're going to figure out some way to bring her back. She dropped the veil completely, right? Easy. If she was dead dead we wouldn't get to see her react to her own death, it'd be Elena or Caroline finding her body. So I'm not believing this until it's completely confirmed.

2) Actually was the veil dropped completely? I know Bonnie was working to get Jeremy back specifically (though why she wouldn't be aiming for all the supernatural's she cared about, like say her grandmother, as well I don't know) and we see various hunters back at the end so... veil dropped? All supernatural creatures are back?

2 b.) If the veil is gone/completely down then next episode I want scenes with: Elena/Alaric/Jeremy (because seriously if we get Alaric back for two episodes and he doesn't get some good interaction with them I'm going to be mad), a longer Jeremy/Bonnie (not dead!), a Vicki/Matt scene, Jenna (!), Jenna with Elena/Jeremy/Alaric and Jeremy/Matt. If they want to bring back some others like Isobel, Rose and Anna/Pearl that would be awesome too.

3) Wait a damn second. Elena takes on Katherine and... kicks her ass?? WTF!? In what universe could that ever happen? It could be easily explained away by saying that the spell Bonnie did not only linked their well-being but gave Katherine Bonnie's human vulnerabilities, though you have to wonder why it wouldn't go the opposite direction (making Bonnie harder to kill seems like a better idea), but the show doesn't actually say that unless I missed it.

4) Even if Katherine was weak because of the spell the fight was still disappointing because she never really fought back. Elena being human never stopped her from fighting back. Hell, it didn't stop Katherine either and Katherine is the epitome of a survivor. She would have had something more than helpless pleading up her sleeve. She would have helplessly plead and then smacked Elena down with a pipe or something. I wanted a kickass doppelganger vs doppelganger fight, damn it!

5) So that's it for Silas? Well, that was rather disappointing. He was defeated far too easily for how much he was built up. I was expecting Bonnie to have to work together with the witches on the other side, or at least with Qetsiyah, to take him out.

6) Despite Silas being fairly easy to defeat I call shenanigans on Klaus (and Elijah) deciding to wander off to New Orleans with the Silas situation unresolved. Did Klaus suddenly decide her didn't care if all the dead supernatural creatures, including his murderous parents, came back? New Orleans was not that important. After two years of Klaus hanging around him disappearing at this point felt really unsupported and weak.

7) "I have to save Jeremy for Elena." - Bonnie. So it is totally believable for Bonnie to risk so much to help/protect Elena but I actually think Elena is just a cover here. Bonnie has just as much invested in getting Jeremy back for herself. Plus I think Bonnie's at a stage where she's just trying desperately to have some control over her own life and decisions, some personal power, after being manipulated by Shane and Silas.

8) I was a bit disappointed by the Elena/Caroline and Elena/Bonnie interactions. Maybe in the next episode we'll finally get scenes with them just sitting down and working on their relationships for longer than a minute but I'm not feeling very hopeful.

Bonnie brushing off Elena's behaviour was completely understandable and in character and I really liked her line about 'knowing what it's like not to be yourself because she wasn't for a long time either'. I also thought it worked that she pushed aside them talking in favour of Elena spending as much time with Jeremy as possible. Their lack of interaction and quick make-up actually did work considering the situation. But this can't be all we get. If we don't get more I'm not going to be happy.

Caroline hanging out doing school stuff and babysitting angry Elena worked less for me. It made character sense as well but it bugged me regardless. The scene at the Grill however was a great start and it does seem likely that a confrontation will be coming and the show might actually deal with all, or at least some, of the Elena/Caroline crap that's happened this season. So I'm pleased about that.

9) I loved Bonnie getting the better of Katherine.

10) It was so great to see Alaric again. What do we need to sacrifice to bring him back permanently? I loved: the hug, "Not every ghost has a reason to come back to Mystic Falls -- just the ones like me looking out for their idiot best friend." Awww! And drinking together again at the end.

11) I was really sad when Elena told Rebekah that they weren't friends. Sigh.

12) Over the seasons, with every new flashback, I've loved Lexie a little less. I still love the Lexie/Stefan friendship but honestly I think she really screwed him up. Her plan to deal with Stefan the Ripper being to torture him back to good behaviour every time he did it just lead to Stefan going through cycles instead of dealing with it. When Stefan brought up the idea of torturing Elena into flipping back her switch my immediate thought was 'ah, Lexie's influence. Her bad, bad influence.'

That said it was great to see her at the end. Stefan's sad little face when he thought she hadn't shown up and then the hug and them walking together down the street - it was lovely.
