Dal Ja’s Spring Episode 14 Review

• Dal Ja and Tae Bong were adorable as always this episode but like times ten. I loved them at the hospital and I loved him asking for a kiss as a birthday present and how that played out. But I especially loved the final scene between them. His speech at the end about him liking Dal Ja regardless of whether she dresses up or washes her face or makes him dinner and in fact he doesn’t like it when she overworks was lovely. Just being with her is enough and “I like you just as you are.” and just holding her is enough for him... He speaks such nice words. I loved him slowly kissing her forehead and then her eyelid and then finally her lips. That was hot and adorable and wonderful.
• “How can men have all the responsibility? That is unreasonable and discriminative.” – Sae Do. Um, what?! He abandoned his family! He left, two weeks ago, without a word or a note and hasn’t been seen since! I’m sorry but I have no sympathy here. He goes on to say that it would have been better if he hadn’t been fired but ‘life doesn’t always go the way we want it to’. I agree with the latter but what does it and the former point have to do with him disappearing?! This isn’t a situation of everyone being down on him for losing his job, I’d sympathise with him there, but because of how he acted afterwards. I’d like to think there is some miscommunication happening here but I don’t know. He goes on to basically say ‘he lost his job and you’re still asking him to do all the work as guardian of the house and to be Superman’? Um, no, I think they’re just asking that he not abandon his life and family when things get hard! Arg! I actually really like Sae Do (most of the time) but man did I want to smack him in this scene especially when he states that “the women asking for it are the selfish ones”. Shut up, Sae Do.
Dal Ja’s take down of him though was a thing of beauty and made up for a lot. I loved it. Also when he tries to pull the hurt/innocent ‘why are you getting mad at poor me’ she doesn’t go along with it but says straight out “You are defending those kinds of guys right now.” and that is not acceptable. Yay, Dal Ja! ♥
• Oh, Dal Ja. When the baby is alive you interrupt her painful self-recriminations! That went on way too long. I’m guessing to build up the tension/suspense but it makes Dal Ja look very bad to have not told her immediately her baby was alive.
• Soon Ae calling Tae Bong from her hospital bed to come take care of Dal Ja made me go aww. These last couple episodes have been great for the Dal Ja/Soon Ae friendship. I love how they take care of each other. I liked them talking and Dal Ja telling Soon Ae how much she admires her. And I loved Soon Ae confronting Dal Ja about what she’s doing with Tae Bong and telling her to stop being afraid of love. “He’s okay. You love him. That’s okay.” Aw.
• So Jung Ae chose money/status over love as well. Huh. That seems to be a bit of a theme. Also: the women being uncertain/hesitant about starting a relationship and the men wanting it and having to pursue them – Dal Ja/Tae Bong and with Ki Joong, Seon Joo/Sae Do and now with Jung Ae/Shin Wook. I really do enjoy how this show has changed that around.
• Soon Ae thanking her husband for coming back made me so, so angry. I want to think ‘cultural differences’ but I’m not sure I entirely believe it’s just that and even if it is it still pisses me off.
• “Since the Supermen started hanging up their capes there are starting to be more and more Superwomen. In the form of a superior at work, in the form of a wife, as a woman, as a mother and they have their own superpowers.” – Dal Ja. ♥♥
• Ki Joong still reading manwha made me smile. He was reading it in bed while eating chocolate! I love that.
