Doctor Who 7x04 Thoughts

I liked this episode!
• I loved all the Doctor/Amy/Rory scenes. It was all lovely and adorable.
- I loved him setting up a romantic night for their anniversary which inevitably lead to chaos and adventure which in turn lead to a couple more adventures. But at least he actually managed to get them back to their party! Now that's an accomplishment.
- I liked getting to see Amy and Rory's everyday lives, and how they actually love that part of their lives as well. I liked seeing the Doctor's attempts at visiting. The boredom montage was amusing.
• "Because you were the first. The first face this face saw. And you're seared onto my hearts, Amelia pond. You always will be." - Doctor. Hmm, so proof that the Doctor basically imprints on his first Companion in a new body? This was a really nice (bittersweet) scene.
• I loved Kate Stewart. Her entrance was excellent. I was a bit disappointed that she didn't get more to do but I liked everything we did get. I love that she apparently changed UNIT back to being more science oriented. I also really liked the actress. Hopefully we'll get to see her again.
• I love that the Pond's have been adventuring with the Doctor on-and-off for ten years. Wow.
• I still really like Brian. I loved how focused and determined he was on doing exactly what the Doctor asked him to do. I liked his talks with the Doctor.
- I was amused, even with how serious the talk was, when the Doctor assured Brian that Amy/Rory wouldn't die ('never them') considering how many times Rory has actually died.
• Also, seriously, the lack of mention of River is bugging me. Doesn't she ever just randomly drop in to see her parents? Because that's what I assumed based on 6x13 but there's been no mention of her at all this season. Not even a "oh, you just missed River" to the Doctor. Nor any mention from the Doctor about her. She's kind of an important person in their lives! Also I find myself wondering if Brian knows about her or has ever met her?
• I wasn't really impressed in the resolution to the plot but I liked the whole mystery about the cubes. They were neat.
