Doctor Who Christmas Special Thoughts

I liked it.
• New title sequence: Interesting! It's quite different from the last few version but I like it. Also was that the Doctor's face at one point? How very old school.
• New TARDIS: hmmm... it's colder and less organic feeling than the previous two. And smaller than the previous one. It's very old-fashioned futuristic in it's look. I'm not actually a big fan. Hopefully it grows on me. I do wish they'd left changing the TARDIS for when they changed Doctors.
• The 'Clara Oswin Oswald' mystery is interesting. I'm definitely intrigued about what exactly is going on. She's only been in two episodes and already she's aiming to take over Rory's 'most deaths' title.
• Still really like Clara. She reminds me a lot of the Doctor. She's really clever, curious and determined, and brave. I loved that she was living a double life. Mary Poppins!Clara was great.
• I'm also really enjoying the Clara/Doctor relationship. They work off each other really well.
• I love the Doctor living in the clouds in his TARDIS with a staircase to Earth. Visually lovely and it feels so fairytale.
• The Doctor may have been saying that he was done but the fact that he decided to a) stay on Earth, and b) stay, essentially with, three of his friends says he knew he wasn't. He just needed time to heal and sulk for a bit. Needed a little nudge.
• "I never know why. I only know who." - Doctor.
• I loved that Madam Vastra and Jenny are who Sherlock Holmes and Watson are based on. I loved that Jenny/Vastra are married.
• It was great to see them and Strax again. Their interactions with the Doctor, and amongst themselves, were wonderful. Strax did seem less smart than previous times we've seen him so I'm assuming it was a side affect of being brought back alive?
• I didn't like how easily Vastra was taken out at the end. She didn't even get to fight! She started toward him with her sword drawn - and then was immediately knocked out.
• The Doctor wearing glasses in the TARDIS - were those Amy's glasses? Sad, either way, because that's what they made me think of.
• I'm torn about the kiss (Clara kissing the Doctor, and the Doctor kissing her hand and then forehead after her accident) but I did enjoy Clara's flirtatiousness especially the bit with the ladder.
• Every time I see or hear the word 'Rose' on this show I can't help but think of Rose. The pub sign had 'The Rose' very clearly lit. I'm guessing that they already knew that they were bringing Rose back in the 50th special and this was foreshadowing?
