Dal Ja’s Spring Episode 13 Review
Jan. 12th, 2011 11:33 pmHappy Valentine’s Day To You!
• Dal Ja/Tae Bong were pretty adorable this episode. Them being all domestic was cute and I like that Dal Ja is now starting to allow Tae Bong to do things for her and that she appreciates it. The hand holding at the end was very cute.
• Dal Ja and her co-workers were just made of love this episode. I loved Dal Ja’s co-workers trying to stop Ms. Kang from seeing what was happening with her in the lobby. Even after she tells them to get out of the way the first time they stand firm. Hyun Suk’s determined expression was amusing. Also I think I knew this before but her pretty colleague is Young Gi, and she likes to eat. Then there was them rallying around to help her box the chocolates and them being so adorable when they finally finished and were standing around talking. I love when they so verbally appreciate her. And they say such nice things about her. They always work hard around her but also feel a lot of pride, and she inspires confidence and support in them. She really is set up as someone who would be a great leader.
• We got a lot of lovely Dal Ja/Sae Do interactions. I wish that she would go to Seon Joo for advice sometimes but I do love the relationship between these two. I think she should have expected his first bit of advice would be ‘sleep with him’ – this is Sae Do after all. But in the end he gave her some great advice – to talk to Tae Bong and be honest with him – and they had a really, really wonderful moment after she came to complain about that not working. I loved his affectionate smile when she ask “It’s embarrassing right” and he goes “No. It’s good. You’re doing great.” Awww. And I loved this exchange right before it:
“(laughs) The things you’ve done were too cute. Why didn’t I notice your cuteness back then, huh?” – Sae Bong
“Your way of consoling me? I don’t feel a tad bit of gratefulness.” – Dal Ja
• I loved Dal Ja confronting Soon Ae about what’s going on with her, pushing but then dropping it when it’s clear that Soon Ae won’t be saying anything more. Then we get this lovely little bit: “Well, will this be able to cure your stress? (puts down some chocolate) Isn’t it Valentine’s Day tomorrow? It’s a day to give our loved ones chocolates. I love you a lot, you know that right?” Awww! Which leads to Soon Ae finally confessing – her husband resigned his job two weeks ago and hasn’t contacted her since leaving her to worry about him as well as try to deal with bills with half the money. Poor Soon Ae. We haven’t gotten as much on their friendship lately but this was a good episode for them. I loved Dal Ja backing her up in front of Ms. Kang. Also this episode showed them to be closer than I had thought they were – when Dal Ja is Soon Ae’s guardian at the hospital at the end.
• Tae Bong’s mother (I hope she gets a name soon) and Ms. Kang being sister-in-laws is something I never saw coming but I love it. Mom and Dal Ja seem as if they’re going to have a contentious relationship so I bet Ms Kang is going to end up the person who’s unexpectedly in Dal Ja’s corner. I think she secretly likes Dal Ja and she clearly doesn’t get along well with her sister-in-law, so that seems the obvious direction to go. I can’t wait to see Ms. Kang’s reaction when she learns about the Tae Bong/Dal Ja relationship. How are they related anyway? Is Ms. Kang Shin Wook’s sister, or is she married to Tae Bong’s mother’s brother?
• I loved Dal Ja grabbing Seon Joo’s hands and forcing her to look at her.
• Dal Ja thinking that ‘determination’ is what she excels at is interesting. I think that the fact that she is so personable and able to keep a happy face most of the time might beat her willpower.
• Tae Bong getting love advice about Dal Ja from her grandmother, good advice at that, amuses me.
• We finally got a scene between Dal Ja, Ki Joong and Mrs. Eom which I’ve been wanting for awhile. It was nice to see Ki Joong react in a short and suspicious manner but overall I found myself wanting... more. Dal Ja ending up in the position of defending ex-Mrs. Eom is so something that would happen to her.
• I feel sorry for Ki Joong who has turned out to be so earnest and kind of a dork but at this point there is just no reason for him to keep pursuing Dal Ja and I hope they drop it.
• I love the little art bits at the beginning and end of episodes – this time with Dal Ja as Wonder Woman (and two others with superman’s crest – Seon Joo and... Soon Ae?)
