7x08 'Cold War': Meh. It was okay. Probably not one I'll watch again. I loved this line: "I'm always serious - with days off. I enjoyed the sailor finding a barbie and some twine in the Doctor's pocket. I wish that they'd kept going with that, just pulling never ending random crap out of his pockets. It would have been hilarious. Nothing really to say about the plot. I did like Professor Grisenko.

7x09 'Hide'

I loved it! It was actually pretty scary.

• I like that it didn't go in the direction I was expecting it to. It started as a haunted house/ghost story and ended a pocket universe rescue with creepy forest and creatures. We get hints of the creatures and they're super creepy and scary and then it ends with them as separated lovers only wanting to get back to each other. I liked the switch up.

• The Doctor and Clara were delightful. The whole "I'm giving you a face" and Clara telling him to dare her exchange was great. I loved the high five after they escaped the pocket universe.

• I loved Clara vs the TARDIS. "Let me in, you grumpy old cow!" LMAO! It's not often that we get the TARDIS interacting with a Companion the way she was in this episode. I loved it.

When Clara thought in 7x07 that the TARDIS didn't like her I wasn't sure she was right but apparently she was! Earlier in the episode we get the Doctor wondering "Did the TARDIS say something to you? Are you being mean?", which I thought was cute, but then we get the TARDIS actually talking to Clara - and being pretty mean about it! "The TARDIS Voice Visual Interface. I'm programmed to select the image of a person you esteem. Of several billion such images in my databanks, this one best meets the criterion." Yikes. But also - lol.

So does them working together to save the Doctor makes things good between them now? Why did/does the TARDIS dislike her so much? I'm super interested in the Clara/TARDIS relationship at this point, which is kind of rare for Companion/TARDIS relationships (largely because they don't usually have one.)

• I loved this exchange and little change up in the usual script:

Doctor what?" - Alec
"If you like." - Doctor

LOL.

"She never changes...the angles and frames are different but she's always the same" Rather like Clara in that way. She always looks the exact same. Is very similar in personality. Could Clara be caught in some sort of alternate world and the three Clara's the Doctor has known thus far are just projections from that original?

I also wonder about this line: "It's no a ghost story, it's a love story" Is this foreshadowing a twist in Clara's story? Perhaps the Doctor is looking at her situation the wrong way?

• The creatures were super creepy. The way they were shot, the way they moved, it all worked to make them scary. Well, until we saw one up close but that was kind of the point. As unknowns they were terrifying (and the whole holding hands thing was scary but then those type of things always get me) but once they were known there wasn't anything to be afraid of.

"Don't trust him. There's a sliver of ice in his heart." Hmmm. The Doctor is a very dangerous and scary person. I wonder what she means by 'sliver if ice'? The phrasing makes me think of The Snow Queen.

Also: "Every lonely monster needs a companion." Just 'companion' always makes me think Doctor and 'lonely' makes me think "lonely god".

• I like the twist that Hila was Alec and Emma's (many times) great-granddaughter.

• The Doctor/Clara discussion at the end of Earth was interesting and immediately made me think of two things. 1) "I'm a ghost. We're all ghosts to you." In a way she's kind of right. Rose, Donna, Amy/Rory, all the Companions/family he's lost that he can't ever see again. Even those he can - Martha, River - there's a time limit there. Every time he meets someone new that's always there. 2) Rose, in two ways. The first trip he took Rose on was to the end of the Earth and like Clara she had problems with that. Except I think the Doctor handled that better, understood her better. Also the outfit he was wearing made me think of Rose because the last time I remember him wearing it was in The Satan Pit.
