I enjoyed all three of these episodes.

3x06 'Ariel'

• I like the twists they did on the little mermaid story a lot. Regina taking over as the villain (of course) but not actually being Ursula; Ursula being real and a sea goddess (and not evil?); the bracelet switching tail/legs between Ariel and Snow and Ariel’s choice; Regina taking Ariel’s voice out of spite. It all worked really well for me.

• I liked the Snow/Ariel friendship.

• I loved the scene in the Cave of Echos, especially Snow and Emma’s confessions. There was a lot of emotional resonance in their truths. Snow’s was both painful but so understandable. It actually took me back to Snow crying in Emma’s ruined nursery in the Enchanted Forest. I do wish though that Snow’s focus during the first part of her confession had been more focused on Emma than Charming. I’m still not a big fan of either Neil or Neil/Emma so I liked that it wasn’t just ‘and true love reunites’ between them. I like that Emma isn’t just past what happened between them simply because she thought he was dead and now she has him back.

"Oh, it’s really not that valuable." - Snow. Hee. Just the way she said it amused me. It reminded me that, yeah, Snow was a thief at one point.

• I also really liked that Hook didn’t keep the Neal secret and that Snow pretty much immediately told Emma the truth.

• I liked Regina teaching Emma how to use her powers and Snow’s acceptance of it because her powers are a part of Emma so she should learn about them.

• I liked that there was no drama (thus far) between Neal and Hook over Hook’s confession. This is likely to change but it was nice.

3x07 'Dark Hollow'

• Belle/Ariel saving the day together was great. I love Belle when she's hanging out with other princesses and I loved how excited she was to get to help save everyone.

• I really like Ariel. I love her optimism (even though she certainly has reason not to have any). I like her enthusiasm and good-naturedness. She also keeps saying things that really amuse me - like her bit about the gun or this: "Shouldn't you be wearing gloves or something?" when Belle explained what Pandora's box was.

• Emma having no fucks to give about the love triangle crap when she has her son to save was awesome. I loved her rejecting the idea that she had to choose between them in the beginning ("The only thing I have to choose is the best way to get my son back.") and then at the end - "Okay, let me be very clear about something. If I had to choose someone... I choose Henry. He's the only love I have room for in my life." I did a mental dance of joy.

• I loved Emma using her magic to save them.

• Pandora’s Box – actually all the evils of the world were let out and hope was what was left trapped inside. Was Belle wrong or are the writers giving it a Once spin?

3x08 'Think Lovely Thoughts'

• I loved the twist that Peter Pan is Rumpelstiltskin's father. That was a brilliant choice. I’d seen the theory that Pan was Rumple’s father but if I hadn't I'm sure it would have been a huge 'omg' moment.

- I did find that first Rumpel/Pan scene after the flashback reveal a bit awkward. Specifically the way Pan immediately starts referring to family relationships (Henry is his great-grandson) when up until this point he hasn't before. It felt like - okay, the reveal is done so now he can mention it (and lets ignore the fact he never has before because of reasons.)

• I loved Emma and Regina immediately trying to figure out how they could help with the rescue, Emma figuring out that they needed to cover the moon and her and Regina using magic together to do it.

• I loved that it was Emma, Regina and Neal there at the end - all three of Henry's parents, standing united in their love for him.

• For all that Rumplestiltskin’s father was a liar, a cheat and a coward, when his son brought him a magic bean and asked him to go to a new world with him, he took his son’s hand and jumped through with him. I find that fascinating considering how things played out with Rumplestiltskin/Baelfire. But then seeing how things ended between Rumpelstiltskin and his dad afterward perhaps that could explain a bit more about Rumpelstiltskin's fear of jumping into the unknown.

- I love the repeating patterns on this show. Another one from this episode - Peter Pan was a conman as an adult and his grand-son Neal ended up becoming one too. Makes me think of the Snow/Emma thief parallels.
