1x12 'The Indispensable Man' & 1x13 'Bad Blood'

I really enjoyed it.

• All the Ichabod/Abbie and Abbie/Jenny stuff was excellent. The Abbie/Jenny moment was lovely. Ichabod and Abbie had too many great exchanges to count but I especially loved the fist-bump and that it was remembering each other that broke them free from their temptations.

• I loved how neatly everything tied together.

• I liked that Abbie chose to go to purgatory partly for herself and Jenny. I loved that it was Abbie’s choice to stay behind and I liked both Ichabod and Jenny vowing to her that they would be back for her.

• Ichabod stumbling his way into a civil war re-enactment and getting new clothes out of it was great. I also loved Ichabod vs phones.

• The revel that Henry was a) War, b) Jeremy Crane (!) and c) was behind everything that has happened was amazing. That was a great twist. I actually found myself suspicious about Henry several times during the finale but I didn’t see any of this coming and just figured he was working for Moloch. I love that he’s Jeremy Crane. I knew he was going to be back but this is better than any way I’d imagined. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. I imagine that it’s going to involve Ichabod and Abbie trying to save the Horsemen not just defeat them.

• It’s interesting that two of the Horsemen are connected emotional to one of the Witnesses – Ichabod’s former best friend and his son make up two of them now – and I wonder if that’s foreshadowing that the other two could end up people Abbie knows/loves? Which would mean maybe Jenny and Irving? Morales and Andy are perhaps two other possibilities. Oh, wait – Morales (another ex) and Jenny (another family member).

• I doubt Andy is really dead (Jenny definitely isn’t.) I keep finding myself confused about what exactly Abbie and Andy’s relationship was pre-series. I had the initial impression that they were colleagues and he loved her from afar but there wasn’t anything more between them. And for the most part that is usually the impression I get during their scenes. Except… during her purgatory temptation it was both Corbin and Andy who were there and the interactions between her and Andy were very friendly and open. They were clearly good friends and it was taken from Abbie’s secret wish/dream. So – just colleagues or good friends pre-series?

• The one thing I didn’t really care for was Irving’s storyline. Sure, it makes complete sense that he would confess to protect his daughter but at the same time did he really need to? She’s a thirteen year old girl who is confined to a wheelchair. There are a lot more logical reason for how her DNA got on the reverend’s neck than that she broke it. I mean who would believe that? Plus there’s nothing to connect her to the cop’s death.

• Oh wait – I also didn’t like that Morales apparently survived and yet no mention was made of him. I realise these episodes were packed but it was really weird not to see him or even hear anything about him. What did he have to say about what happened? I mean it was his partner that was killed and he was already suspicious about everything. He’s Abbie’s ex – doesn’t she care at all? I wish that they give Abbie a throw-away line about him still being in a coma or something to explain it.

• Next season I hope that we get a bruised and battered Jenny digging Ichabod up and the two of them working together. Meanwhile Katrina frees herself from Death, makes her way to purgatory and meets up with Abbie and then the two of them work together from their end before all four of them are reunited at the end of the season premiere.
