4x08 'Crush'

Overall meh.

• I loved Duke saving Nathan and Nathan telling him that he's "the least selfish person" he knows. I liked their conversation after. I liked Nathan's puzzlement when Duke blew up at him. I liked Duke showing up with the scuba gear. I liked Audrey helping Aiden. I liked that the brothers new exactly what the Troubles were.

• I am really glad that all the secrets are falling apart. Already Nathan knows that Duke killed Wade and the Teagues now know that Lexie is Audrey.

• I was really annoyed by Audrey being affected by the brothers' Trouble. Vince's very awkward explanation that 'physical phenomena can still hurt Audrey' doesn't work for me either. Audrey being affected by the effects a Trouble causes on the world around them, sure, but not the Trouble itself. So the depth!Trouble itself shouldn't affect her. That's what immune means! That is her whole ability. If they were all wtf about it too and then blamed it on the Trouble being one of the newly caused ones I'd have been willing to go with it.

• The new mythology is meh thus far too. We'll see.

• I want to like Jennifer/Duke because she is really cute and nice and I love Duke but I still feel like this isn't going to end well. Not with Duke's complicated feelings about Audrey and Jennifer being far more into him then he is into her.

• I really wish they'd cut the Audrey/Nathan talk the morning after where he's all 'i can't feel these other things but I can feel you'. I buy he loves her for her but them bringing up that he can only feel her just undermines that.

4x09 'William'

Oh, this was so much better. I really liked this episode.

• I loved all the paranoid delusions. It made the episode actually really tense.

Dwight's paranoia was about the missing Toubled and aimed at Duke. So he fears perhaps not actually being up to the job of chief and that he will fail the people he is supposed to protect. Makes sense. I love that even while affect by the paranoia he actually did his job effectively and solved the murder case.

Nathan's paranoia was jealousy over Audrey with a bit of self-hatred/angst over being useless in fixing Haven. Also not really unexpected though it doesn't put him in the best light. Yes, he's out of his mind but honestly it's just taking his love for Audrey that already at times comes off as obsessive/possessive a few steps further. And I really hate that this season.

Jennifer's paranoia was a mix of fear over being crazy and jealousy about Audrey and how Duke feels about her. Also completely understandable and of the three the saddest. Perhaps largely because I think she does have reason to be worried about Duke/Audrey - not that Audrey will steal Duke but that Duke clearly has strong feelings for Audrey and despite how much he likes Jennifer it's never a good idea to get together with a someone who is in love with someone else. And she knows that.

• The funniest moment of the episode:

"We just slept together. Why?" - Jennifer
"Because we wanted to. Because - wait, okay, there's a right answer here. Because I care about you. Because I like you. Be- hang on, what are we talking about?... I'm the guy here, okay? I'm - I'm supposed to be the one who gets close and then pushes you away and freaks out. You're kinda throwing me off here." - Duke

LOLOL. Duke's reaction was priceless.

• I am so excited to see where the show is going with William and the truth about who Audrey is. The whole native prophecy didn't really work for me because it felt random and unconnected. But the biggest question of this show has always been who is Audrey Parker. That we might actually be getting an answer to that is very exciting.

• Howard told Audrey that she was "very, very human" and yet William seemed to imply that she, they, aren't. Hmm. If they aren't then what are they? Perhaps when Howard said she was very human he was talking about her personality? The ones (Sarah/Lucy/Audrey) that she was made into being?

• Another interesting tidbit - she and William have been to Haven before. Just how long ago was that? Based on what he said during their conversation I'm thinking a long time before Haven even existed. Does her and William spending time in Haven in the past have something to do with the Troubles?

"The real you. And she? Is mine." - William. Interesting choice of words there. Not I love her, or she loves me but instead possessive as if she's something that is William's. Also interesting in light of Nathan's behaviour which was also very possessive of Audrey. I wonder if that parallel was meant?

• I'm torn on William. On one hand, I enjoyed his interactions with Audrey a lot. On the other, he's kind of a controlling dick at the end. But on another, this whole thing is working well for my id. I'm intrigued and want to know more about William and Audrey.

• It was great to have Dwight back. I enjoyed his scenes with Duke especially that little one at the beginning where he was teasing Duke and then thanked Duke for his part in rescuing him. I just wish we could have had a moment to see him dealing with Jordan's death.

• I didn't really like Duke and William having to convince Audrey to leave Nathan. Her priorities seem really screwed up since she got back.

• There's not enough Audrey/Duke in these last few episodes. I'd like for the show to address Duke's feelings for him but even more I just really miss their friendship which is so amazing. They need way more screen time.
