The Lighthouse
It was okay but it didn't really grab me the way last season's finale did.
• I'm interested in seeing just who Mara is. Will she have memories of all her lives? Because if yes you'd think they'd affect who she is now. She can't just be the original Mara after living all those lives.
• Duke seemed convinced that Jennifer is dead but I feel doubtful. I think she'll be saved somehow - perhaps by Mara.
• There was a bunch of information sort of revealed - the Others who were after Mara/William (who?), Agent Howard isn't like Mara (who/what is he?!), Dave's been through the portal (how? when?), etc - and then not expanded upon which was annoying. Mostly because we get people asking these questions and then being given evasive non-answers in return.
• I like how they did Ben's death. I like that it was sudden and unexpected instead without the tearful goodbye with Gloria that I was waiting for. I like that we were with Gloria and Audrey when we hear the shot instead of seeing it happen. A part of me was surprised that they went there because I was expecting them to figure out another or get some other reprieve.
• The Duke/Gloria exchange afterwards was rather gutting. It made me teary-eyed and was possibly the most affecting moment of the season. I loved so much her hugging him because when he was telling her that he never expects her to forgive him that is exactly what I wanted her to do. Poor Duke. Poor Gloria. Such a well done moment.
• I really liked that Audrey tried to follow Duke after he shot Ben. It was a little thing but it meant a lot.
• I really liked the Nathan/Duke scene and Nathan trying to take care for Duke.
• Two things that stuck out during the flashback. One, William states that "they will take you away from me", not that they will be separated but treating her as if she belongs to him. Two, Mara tells him "you won't let them", not 'I' or even 'we' but putting their continued freedom and togetherness all on him.
• William's henchmen being the black balls was neat.
• "You're living with an illegal alien, Duke." - Jennifer
"Hey. I know a guy who does green cards." - Duke
Aww. And heh. That was the perfect thing to say.
• So Dave is one of Audrey's people the same as Jennifer - does this mean that he heard Audrey in the barn as well but ignored her? Wait, actually are they all the same/from the same world? If there is multiple it's possibly they could all be from different ones. Hmm.
• How the heck did Dave end up going through the door if it takes four of his people to open it? Was it a different door? And how did he get back. I have a feeling Dave might be having a bigger role next season.
• Considering how afraid Dave and William were of whatever was on the other side of the doorway I'm guessing that is not where they're actually from originally? So what is through there?
- Also back in season one Dave's greatest fear was revealed to be Sarah, or someone who looked like Sarah (Mara?). Does that have anything to do with his terrifying trip through the portal?
• I loved how Dwight saved Vince from the bullet - and incapacitating Dave in the process.
• I love that Dwight carries an extra taser around just in case.
• Nathan's "Get away from her." to William at the end made me roll my eyes. He was just standing beside her! It's not actually that unreasonable but after a season of him being possessive of her any hint of it is annoying.
• "No, she's going to do what she wants to do." - William. When you have the bad guy saying stuff like this in opposition to the hero you know that something has gone wrong. Granted William is being manipulative but I feel like this with everything else we've seen thus far implies that William was respectful of Mara's choices. Much like Duke is with Audrey and Nathan conspicuously isn't.
