Murphy's Law

I love the choices this show is making. It continues to be so much darker then I originally thought it'd be. This week: a lynch mob tries to hang someone and a pre-teen girl commits suicide.

+ I liked that Clarke and Bellamy are now co-leaders.

+ I still really like Clarke. I like that she messed up because she was angry over Wells death. I like that she refused to stand aside and let either Murphy or Charlotte be killed. I like that she told Bellamy he was right and acknowledged that she messed up.

I also loved several of her other reactions - her anger at her mom and desire to make her suffer to leading to her taking off her wristband, and her grief/anger that makes her go off on Charlotte. All of her reactions made perfect sense and I loved it all.

+ I liked that they had Bellamy involved in Murphy's hanging. They easily could have had Murphy hanged without him actively take part or had Charlotte confess earlier but instead they let him make that choice. That was his mistake and as much as Clarke he's responsible for what happened after. If he hadn't then Murphy might have listened to him after Charlotte confessed. I also liked his determination to protect Charlotte.

+ Murphy's a creepy asshole and all around horrible person but I felt a bit sorry for him a couple times. When Bellamy refused to believe him and then him being hanged (by Bellamy) and then being banished and abandoned. I could understand his anger though directing it at Charlotte seemed pretty misaimed. I wonder what he would have done if he had gotten her? Could he have killed her? I don't know that I believe he could.

+ Poor, poor Charlotte.

+ I loved the Raven/Abby goodbye scene.

+ I liked that Raven refused to trade herself for the part.

+ I liked Abby giving herself up in order to give Raven time to escape even knowing it would mean her death.

+ I liked that Kane got a little more fleshed out. He seemed a lot, hmm, softer in this episode's confrontation with Abby. Perhaps because of Clarke's 'death', or because of his encounter with his mother? When he was watching Vera preaching I saw some longing in him - to join, or for the simpler times of his youth? Maybe learning even that little bit about his past has affected how I see him.

+ I wish we could have had something a bit more from Clarke over Wells death. While we got her lovely little story about him giving her gifts when they were kids and her anger at Murphy and Charlotte I guess I wish we'd seen her crying and mourning him that way as well?

+ I'm not entirely sure about Nigel's choice to betray Abby to Kane. Especially considering that she apparently knows about his plan? Is she thinking that if she gets on his good side/helps him it will keep her safe from a purge?
