3z21 'Snow Drifts' & 3x22 'There's No Place Like Home'

I enjoyed it.

• This was a great conclusion to Emma's arc. She's been looking for family and home from the very beginning but even after finding her parents she still felt distant from them. At the beginning of the season while in Neverland she revealed that she still felt like an orphan. So I loved that this finale was all about Emma realising that she is home. I also loved that Emma getting her powers back was all about her accepting Storybooke and her family as her home. That it was where she belonged and where she wanted to be more than anything.

- "Sorry the only one who saves me is me." - Emma

• I loved all the Emma/Hook scenes. They were a lot of fun which was great but we also got a lot of really wonderful feelings and honesty between them. The final question from season 3's second arc is finally answered - Hook got to New York by outrunning the curse and then selling the Jolly Roger for a magic bean. Now that is love! Really this episode was all about his love for her and more importantly her not only accepting that love but deciding to acknowledge her own feelings for him (because of her realisation that Storybrooke/her family are home) and finally acting on them. That final scene was wonderful and I loved that she called him Killian.

- "One of these days you're going to stop chasing this woman." - Hook. I doubt it. I love that he lets go and follows her. I love that jumping into unknown portals after loved ones is a sign of deep love on this show - Snow for Emma in 2x01, Emma willing to jump after Henry and now Hook for Emma.

- "Your discomfort is a cross I'm willing to bear." - Hook. Heh. I loved Emma's little smile and that it amused her as well.

- Loved the dance. They really did look good together.

- The best part might have been Emma seducing Hook's younger self, Hook getting jealousy and then punching his younger self out. Hee.

• I'm not certain about how I feel about Elsa showing up next season. Not excited.

• Poor Regina. She just never gets a break does she?

• I really, really hope that Emma bringing Marian back doesn't cause Regina to backslide into villainy. Regina now is very different from the Regina then, she has grown so much, and she has a support system now. She has Henry obviously but she's also made peace with Snow and is considered part of the family. Her whole redemption arc wasn't based around Robin, he was a the result of it. Her lashing out in the immediate anger and pain makes sense but if this is dragged out into her becoming the evil queen again I'm not going to be pleased. It wouldn't work.

• I'm not sold that this is the end of Regina/Robin and that Robin will go immediately back to Marian. Yes, Marian is his true love but so is Regina. He loves Marian but he loves Regina as well. This isn't actually an open and shut decision. I don't think it's completely certain he will choose Marian over Regina.

• I'm so glad that Emma has her powers back. I really hope next season sees her developing them.

• I loved the Emma/Rumpelstiltskin interactions. Loved them. I really regret we didn't get to see more of the two of them interacting because I found them kind of fasinating. "Ohh, confidence. I like it." - Rumpelstiltskin. I loved Emma's smile at that. I think I would have loved watching his trying to seduce Emma to the dark side. I adored Rumpel as her fairy godfather. That was rather delightful.

- I loved that final scene between Emma and past!Rumpel which tied as most emotional moment of the episode with Emma's hugging Snow after she was revealed to be alive. Emma's anguish over Neal's death felt very real and poor Rumpel. That scene also highlighted something that I've always found missing on the show - Rumpelstiltskin and Emma bonding or connecting via their shared love for Neal/Baelfire - and here for a minute we got it and now I really want more.

• I loved Snow's face when Emma called her mom at the end.

• I quite liked that final Emma/Regina scene before the Marian reveal. Emma was both concerned and supportive of Regina. She seemed sure that if Marian could just get to know the new Regina she would like her too. I like what it all said about how Emma sees Regina.

• I hope Emma doesn't react to this like her mom did. They both did something that had a negative impact on Regina's life and happiness but unlike with Snow Emma's choice saved someone's life. It gave a child back his mother. This is not a bad thing. So Emma being consumed with guilt over it wouldn't make sense. She should be sorry that Regina's romantic life is in shambles again, sad for her and worried over how she will react but guilt? I don't think so.

• I really liked seeing Neal again. The flashback was cute and I kind of like that Emma's idea of what home is comes from him. Also her using knowledge she gained from him to save herelf.

• I loved seeing old faces - Ruby, Kathryn, Marco, Granny, Neal, Archie, Aurora (Uh, where's Philip?). It was great.

• I liked the little Hook/Charming scene. I do enjoy their bonding moments.

• I loved all the little pieces of Red/Snow we got this episode. Ruby sitting with the family at Granny's, Snow turning turning to Red to help save Emma, Red's horror/grief at Snow's death and their joyful hugging reunion, and then their loving hug goodbye. It was all just little things, mostly background but their friendship and love for each other was a presence this episode and it's a presence that has been sorely missed this season. Hopefully, with the (sad) cancellation of Intelligence it'll mean that Red will be around a lot more next season.

• I like that Aurora as a monkey was mentioned but I'm annoyed that the show has decided to otherwise address the flying monkey issue - ie, our heroes killing a bunch of innocent transformed people - by completely ignoring it.

• I'm a bit let down and annoyed that that really was the end of Zelena. And that like the flying monkey's the show is just moving on without another thought.

• It's got to be a little weird for Henry to have his new baby uncle named after his dead father. Man, his family.

• I'm not entirely sold on Regina killing Snow that way in the new past. It was just too quick. Regina was all about dragging it out and forcing Snow to suffer. Killing her immediately just doesn't fit. Also Regina would have wanted to see Snow's face when she died so there wouldn't have been any hood.

"Well then, I guess we're kidnapping you." - Emma, after knocking Marian out. LOL. It's probably wrong but I loved that.

• I completely didn't realise that it was Marian that Emma saved until that scene at Granny's. I spent the entire time trying to think of who she could be because she seemed so familiar.

• I rolled my eyes at Emma's reaction to Belle. She knows Belle wouldn't recognise her. Plus what was with her mumbled 'i can't believe you got together'? She knows the danger of changing the past even a little! And the there was her and Hook being stumped about cover names at the ball. It was ridiculous.
