The Calm

• Holy crap. Did Clarke seriously kill that Grounder? Wow. It's even more shocking to me because we'd gotten to know him a little bit and he didn't seem like a bad guy. Also he wasn't attacking her at the time. And she was so... calm as she held her hand over his mouth and watched him die. It's honestly pretty dark. The show just had it's heroine murder someone. She didn't even try to incapacitate him. Just immediately to killing. I am both shocked and kind of impressed with her.

She has changed so much from the beginning. She was so practical this episode. After Myles was shot Finn told her to leave him and run and she did. She killed the Grounder to escape. She ran away without even trying to find and save Finn. I don't have a problem with any of that because she was doing what was best to save herself. She was being surprisingly realistic in her actions.

Leaving Myles made complete sense. He was injured, they were surround and they couldn't escape with him. She had no idea where they took Finn or how many of them there were. The chances of her finding Finn, freeing him and escaping with him were minuscule. Killing her Grounder Guard, well, less sense to me but still super practical. If she'd tried to knock him out there was more of a chance of her not succeeding. If he'd gotten one yell out she would have been screwed.

That said while I understand why she killed the Grounder I think this is going to bite her in the ass. Their attempts at a truce with the Grounders was pretty shot already but this was definitely the last nail in the coffin.

• I knew Abby couldn't be dead and I'm glad that I was right.

• Kane seemed pretty happy when he found Abby alive too. His desperation when he entered the service bay and his relief and joy when he found Abby felt a bit more then his reaction to finding Jaha alive.

• Kane's pretty firmly a hero at this point. He risked his life to save Jaha and the others in the control room and then he risked it again to save the people in the service bay (who might not even been alive!) He refused to even consider not trying to save everyone. I never expected this to be where we ended up with Kane based on the pilot but I like it.

• omg, Monty! Nothing had better happen to him. Sure, Finn is in danger as well but Monty! Of the two I like Monty more and I think he's more likely to die. I really hope that doesn't happen. Okay, fine I also hope Finn doesn't die. He inexplicably annoys me but he is a good guy and I don't actually want him to die.

• I really liked Bellamy's pep talk to Raven which basically consisted of him telling her that she was awesome and that they needed her. Both very true.

• So the Bellamy/Raven hook-up - I did not see that coming. It was kind of hot and I like their interactions a lot. I actually really liked Bellamy's response to Raven coming on to him. He said that he wasn't the kind of guy to talk her down but honestly his little speech sort of acted as that. He acknowledged that she was upset and acting out because of it but left what happened up to her. I doubt this is the start of a romance but I could maybe see a FWB situation. Depending on how the finale goes.

• Poor Raven. Trying so hard to get over Finn but not even having sex with someone else helps. And then she learns he was taken by Grounders and not off hooking up with Clarke. So now she gets the (unreasonable) overwhelming guilt to go with all that anger and jealousy. I want Finn to survive if just for her sake.

• I really like Wick, who kind of became Kane's second-in-command for this episode. He was amusing and I hope he survives.

• I liked that Raven sincerely apologised to Monty for being insensitive. I like that he accepted it so easily.

• Yeah, Murphy totally set that fire. What is he up to? Is he working for the Grounders? Does he just want revenge against the 100?

• I liked that we saw a little more of the Grounders. It's interesting that Anya's second-in-command was a young girl. I love that Anya was training Tris to be her successor but you'd think she's have someone older/with more experience as her actual second-in-command.

• I wish we'd seen more of Bellamy's reaction to learning that Clarke had been taken by the Grounders. More that is than just his sympathy for Raven.
