Necessary Roughness 3x01 Thoughts

I really enjoyed this episode.
They did a time jump, changed most things up and it worked. I ended up enjoying this episode more than I did most of the end of last season. Now I have these weird see-saw emotions over it. On one hand, I'm excited and hope that I enjoy the rest of the season as much. But on the other, I know that it's only 10 episodes this season and has been cancelled so if it is great that'll just make the final episode all the harder.
• I loved all the Dani/Nico stuff. I love that they apologized for hurting each other. I liked that when he called her he expected/knew that she would just get in the limo with no further information just because he needed her help. I like how much he believes in her (he wouldn't bet against her) and how much he enjoys watching her work/smack down people.
• "He came. She goes. I'm gone." - TK and "He can't just take you away from me. He doesn't own me. He's not Django.". Sure it's a little co-dependant but I really love TK's love for Dani. So him quitting in part because of her firing and his bitching out Matt over not fighting for her made me happy. Sure, some of it was just change and TK being unhappy with it but part of it is that in the last two years she has become very important to him and an essential part of his life.
- Despite what Dani tells Matt TK is way more than just a client despite all of her efforts to keep him in that box,. Now that Dani isn't TK's therapist I really hope their relationship can grow and become a true friendship. Honestly I kind of just want Dani to semi-adopt TK and I have wanted it since the first season. It could happen now! The worst thing would be if this meant no more or very little Dani/TK. Sure, Dani is correct that TK's come a long way and he's ready to 'fly alone' but that doesn't mean he needs to be alone.
• My first reaction to seeing Matt's wedding ring was pretty much 'wtf'. Marrying someone just because they're pregnant with your child doesn't seem like the best reason especially when you're in love with someone else. I was not pleased with that turn at the beginning just because it felt like such a dumb choice for them all to make. But Dani's line later to Jeanette about Matt feeling like he had to at least give it a chance actually made it work better for me. I'll just assume that Matt and Noelle only got married very recently after dating more seriously for several months and falling in love.
• So I guess Noelle's pregnancy was less about causing drama for Matt/Dani and more a reason for the show to break them up permanently. I like that far better but it confuses me why they even bothered to put them back together in the first place. Did Marc Blucas decide to leave during the break?
• I liked the Dani/Matt scenes, especially their final one. I like how mature they are with each other. I like their friendship and how much they genuinely do care for each other. I'm going to miss their friendship.
• I really like both new characters - Connor and Troy - and their interactions with Dani. The fact that I like both actors helps. JS is very charismatic as Connor and I love the antagonistic relationship between Dani and Troy.
• I'm very intrigued by that end. Between Connor and Troy's conversation and Nico's cryptic "we have a problem" call it looks like this season is going to have a overarching mystery. It seems obvious that V3 is into something bad and Nico is working for some alphabet agency to figure out what's going on and take them down.
• "If I could time travel I would go back and figure out who stole your toys. What's with the games?" - Dani to Troy. LOLOL. I actually did laugh out loud at that.
• The V3 way of greeting new employees - everyone gathering around and clapping - is basically my worst nightmare. That is enough reason not to get a job there.
• I liked the little glimpses of TK and Rex's continuing friendship.
• Nico knew about Matt's marriage. He was keeping tabs on the Hawks. Or more likely he was keeping tabs on Dani? He was pretty unpleasantly surprised when he found Matt at Dani's judging by his expression.
• It was nice to see Jeanette. I love her hair. Dani's was nice too.
