Witches of East End Thoughts

• I really loved the Joanna/Wendy 'goodbye' scene. It was beautiful. Theirs are still the best scenes.
• There were also a couple nice Ingrid/Freya and Ingrid/Wendy scenes.
• Ingrid's emotional storyline doesn't entirely work for me but I'm having a hard time articulating why. Her needed to figure out who she is works fine. It makes sense because a lot has happened in a pretty short amount of time but I think my issue is the reason she's pushing back. That she's the family 'anchor' and doesn't want to be or doesn't feel like it fits anymore and wants to change... except her main backstory reveal from last season was all about how she joined an evil cult in her last life, an action which drove pretty much everything in the first season. She acts like doing personal spells is some wild thing except, again, she was doing that all the time last season (usually with negative consequences). It would work so much better for me if her need to rediscover herself was about trying to reconcile her dark past/choices with her view of herself as the 'good'/well-behaved sister.
• On one hand, I love that we're getting an actual nonhuman-looking nonhuman character. I love supernatural/alien looking creatures. But on the other, I really, really hope that Ingrid is actually aware to some degree of what she's doing with him. Like, she forgets when she wakes up but while sleepwalking she's fully aware (even if she's being influenced to some degree.) Or maybe she knew him before? Kinky tentacle sex, sure. I'm there. Kinky tentacle rape? Not so much.
• I do like what they're doing with Dash. I was kind of afraid that the show would go straight bad guy/evil with him so I like that they haven't. He's hurt and supremely pissed off but he's not going all sith about it.
• It's weird that there was no mention of Penelope especially from Dash. She's a pretty prominent figure in the community so you'd think people would notice that they haven't seen her since the failed wedding. What does Dash think happened to her? Isn't he worried? Because his mom just disappeared and that should be a major plotline.
• Dash's friends are kind of dicks. Why the hell would they take him to the bar where his ex-fiance works? Are there no other bars in town?
2x02 'The Son Also Rises'
• Did we know that Ingrid and Freya lived in Asgard? For some reason I thought they were born on Earth, huh.
• How the hell did they sell Penelope committing suicide? There was no body.
•Lots more mythology - the Beauchamps were the royalty of their world and there was a war with Wendy/Joanna's father that ended with him banishing them. Ingrid has four hidden abilities. Most important of all is the reveal that there is another female Beauchamp. Probably a sister to Joanna and Wendy?
I wonder what the names for each of the Beauchamps means - 'The Dagger' (is that Joanna or Wendy?), The Bridge (Wendy or Joanna?), The Traveler (Freya), and The Gatherer (unknown) and The Key (Ingrid). Well 'the key' is obvious and 'the traveler' seems easy enough to work out. I also find it curious that it's only the female witches of the family in the book. Even though he's a witch and Freya's twin Frederick isn't in there.
• I like the end scene at the house with the fireworks and cuddling on the couch.
• While we did get that lovely scene near the beginning between the three siblings you'd think that Freya and Ingrid would want to spend all the time they could with Frederick, learning about him and their past.
2x03 'The Old Man and the Key'
• I loved the Ingrid/Dash scenes. I love the idea of Ingrid mentoring Dash in magic. I love her sympathy towards his situation and her decision to tell him the truth. I love his sincere gratitude towards her for telling him the truth.
Dash took a step into darkness by murdering Kyle but now he has Ingrid on his side. Is this going to lead to her guiding him into using his powers for good - which I thought at first it would - or is this going to lead Ingrid back into darkness - which kind of seems more likely now that she's helped him hide a body. Though to be fair the Beauchamp clan kills a fair amount of people.
I don't know. Either way I'm excited about this storyline. I also never considered the possibility of a Dash/Ingrid relationship, and can't even remember a scene between them last season, but I'm almost sold on it based on this episode. [Even if it's a bit weird considering she was in love with his grandfather in a past life and he almost married her sister.]
• I loved the opening Ingrid/Freya/Joanna scene. Lots of family feels.
• Still not sure what I think about Frederick. Can he be trusted? Aunt Wendy strongly thinks not and she's often right but who knows? Joanna is definitely being too trusting though.
• Why, oh why, is Joanna still lying about stuff? It always blows up in her face and at this point you'd think she would have learned better. It's like a compulsion with her. What could be so horrible about the door that she can't tell the girls? I did love that they both knew she was lying and said so in a sort of exasperated 'whatever, mom' way.
• I'm kind of feeling Freya/Eva. Their last scene with Eva being all intense and 'i want us to be friends' and the hug - yup, I can see it.
• Eva's clearly evil in some way - before this ep I could have bought her actually just being a random witch who fell for Killian but the way she acted in this ep was very sketchy. Now I'm wondering if she maybe came through the portal as well?
• Did Ingrid and Dash really need to go that far to hide Kyle's body? Why not leave him in the woods?
