Teen Wolf 4x02 Thoughts

• I'm actually a little sad that teenage Derek is gone and I wish he'd stuck around for a couple more episodes. It'd be nice to get to know this Derek a little more. I enjoy his snarkiness and bitchy expressions without the overwhelming past angst.
• Derek/Stiles was great. Their scenes were fun. Cousin Miguel! Totally not impressed with each other. I especially loved Derek's expression after Agent McCall asks how they spell the fake last name Stiles gave him. It was all 'yeah, Stiles, how do you spell it, super interested!' in the most sarcastic way possible. And then Derek slammed Stiles against the wall! That amused me a lot. Two Stiles lines about Derek I liked: "Everyone's happy except Derek who's never happy." (sadly true) and "To be honest, I'm starting to miss the old Derek." (:
• Malia continues to be delightful. I love that she showed up at Peter's to be back-up for Scott, unasked. It seems like she's getting a hang of being a part of a pack. I also loved her studying in class - she's so lost but she's trying to learn.
• The Malia/Peter scene was great. I loved his reaction to Scott introducing them (though after two months wouldn't he know what his daughter looks like? I don't buy that he didn't look her up immediately after getting her name.) I loved their exchange about his killing spree.
I loved them both being gung-ho to go search for Kate.
- I loved Peter's realisation that Kate was alive. This made me laugh out loud:
"Can't someone in this town stay dead?" - Peter
"I think they were hoping you would." - Malia
• "That was Scott!" - Derek. Aw, even as baby!Derek he's still 100% Team Scott. He wants to be Scott's #1 fan. He wants them to be brothers! I mean there is clearly something weird and wrong happening with his girlfriend (?) and his uncle and he's just like 'don't care, Scott's in trouble, bye!'
• The short Sheriff scene was great. I loved his reaction to young Derek, his jump to time travel (lol), and his reaction to the 'camping trip' to Mexico (his expression at Stiles, lol). Also: "Where?? Swimming in the fountain of youth??" heee.
• Wouldn't the sheriff recognize young Derek from the fire? That's probably not a case that he ever forgot.
• So are Stiles and Malia having sex when she sneaks in to his room at night? Were those scratches on his back? I'm confused because he didn't seem very happy or excited about it. Was he just grumpy about always being the little spoon? (yes) Unhappy about lying to her? (yes) I wonder if maybe Malia is coming on too strong and the relationship is too much too fast? This is his first relationship (are they dating officially?) and she's showing up five nights a week, unasked, so I could see it being too much. She is very intense about him which is overwhelming but he also really likes her and doesn't want to do anything to hurt her or cause her to backslide. I could see that but it's just a theory. I can't really read his reaction.
• I can understand them not wanting to take Derek to meet Peter but why the hell would they take him to Scott's house when they know Scott has two parents living there that aren't 'in the know' (Melissa not knowing about Mexico) instead of Stiles house?
• I was not expecting that Derek/Kate kiss! So they definitely happened when he was 16. Yet he seemed kind of uncertain around her? Is it just because she was older?
• Interesting that Stiles never told Scott about Kate/Derek.
• I love the idea of the Hale family vault.
• Meh to Scott's dad still being around. I was kind of hoping he would have taken off between seasons.
• Of course Peter taught Derek control and did it by teaching him to use anger as an anchor.
• The final fight did not work for me at all. It was just badly done. A small cut to her leg, not even bleeding that much, takes Malia out of the fight? Uh huh. Kira turns to look and smile at Scott in the middle of her fight? WTF? Scott hangs out on the ground with Malia instead of jumping back into the fight? What? Derek kind of won a fight for once but I don't really buy that either.
