5x01 'See No Evil'

• I miss Audrey. Mara's fun, I enjoy how much she doesn't give a crap and the glee she has at mayhem, but it's Audrey I love.

• I'm sad about Duke and how he showed basically no concern for Audrey. He didn't call for her, he didn't bring her up, he showed no interest in what was happening with her. I found it completely unbelievable. Yes, he loves Jennifer but he also loves Audrey and she is his friend. It was bizarre.

• I found both Nathan and Duke's single-minded focus kind of annoying. Nathan's focus on Audrey more so because it's just more of the same with him and this episode really confirmed that I am completely over Nathan/Audrey. His speech at Mara about how true his and Audrey's love is made me roll my eyes.

• I liked the Gloria/Vicky scene and getting to see just average Havenites trying to deal. I liked getting to see a 'good' Trouble, or at least a Trouble being used for good.

• I like the twist that Duke is now spreading Troubles.

• Mara comparing her creating Troubles to Nathan carrying a gun is interesting. Nathan carries a gun to protect himself (and others) and to stop bad guys. We know that there is something horrible on the other side of the portal, something that William was terrified of. I wonder if they have a semi-understandable reason for creating the Troubles, self-protection, instead of it just being for fun?

5x02 'Speak No Evil'

• Jennifer being dead wasn't a surprise since I'd read that the actress had chosen to leave the show. I'd considered the possibility that she could have been dragged into the portal but then if the actress never wanted to return that would leave a big loose end. I do wonder what the plan was for her if the actress had stayed. Would she have been the one sealing the portals? Were Jennifer/Duke meant to be end-game.

• I liked Jennifer and I'll miss her. But I'm mostly sad that we won't get the chance to really explore any relationship between Jennifer/Audrey. Granted season 4 was a disappointment in that regard and it likely never would have happened but I really wanted them to become friends and to explore together who they really are.

• Duke/Nathan were lovely. I loved Duke sitting down with Nathan at the beginning and immediately explaining what was happening with him.I loved that it was Duke's feelings for Nathan and his worry for him that finally forced him to accept that Jennifer was gone.

• So was that actually Audrey coming to the surface or was it Mara playing Nathan? I'm kind of hoping for the latter even though I miss Audrey just because I hate the idea of Nathan 'saving' Audrey with his true love for her.
