• Hmm, Sato Erika. She reminded me of Seung Hee and I wonder if that was on purpose? It’s not just her position as a higher level interrogator and her calmness in the face of torture but also that she clearly intended to honour her deal with Hyun Joon and was unhappy about her side’s betrayal of it. I hope we see her again. I have a feeling she could prove to be a good ally for Hyun Joon.
• The Sun Hwa/Seong Hee train fight was excellent. I want more of that.
• Sun Hwa’s mother and siblings being dead – is that true? If so, ouch. She and Hyun Joon really have something in common now. I am really curious about where she disappeared to after she escaped Sa Woo. She didn’t appear again in the episode but I kept expecting her to. I mean wasn’t she going to Akito? I was really expecting her to be there at the end with Hyun Joon to save Yuki.
• Were the dead bodies we saw when Yuki made her call those of her parents or just random guests at the hotel? If they were her parents the first place my mind goes is actually Sun Hwa adopting Yuki. I liked the little we’ve seen of them. Or Hyun Joon because his relationship with Yuki is lovely.
• There was a lot of our main couple angstily remembering their trip to Akito, with multiple complete flashbacks and I found that kind of boring. It’s only been seven episodes – I do remember those scenes from the first time I watched. Seung Hee staring at the picture of the two of them was enough for me to realise that she was remembering when it was taken and I didn’t need to see it. If they really had to show flashbacks I wish they’d shown flashbacks to something we hadn’t already seen.
• I’m very curious about how these people keep finding each other. How did Seung Hee find Sun Hwa after she escaped NSS custody and then find her at the train station after losing her in the parking garage? How did Sun Hwa know to talk to a weapons dealer to find Hyun Joon, let alone which weapons dealer? How did the North Korean agents know where to find Sun Hwa after Cheol Yeong sent them after her? (Actually how did Sun Hwa find Hyun Joon in the first place?) How the hell did Sa Woo find Seung Hee in Japan and specifically how did he track her to that tram station?
It’s not just one instance of a person finding another one randomly but something that keeps happening over and over in each episode. It’s like everyone has a microchip GPS implanted. Actually it feels rather contrived – person A finds person B while person C can’t because that’s what the PTB need to happen for the plot to advance – and it annoys me. It really stuck out in this episode because it felt like it kept happening every couple minutes.
