I enjoyed it.
Liked
+ I really enjoyed the look and feel of the episode. The base, how dark and crowded it felt, the way everyone worked together. It worked for me.
+ 'Our' team (May, Skye, Trip) working together as a unit outside of their teamup with the mercenaries was great.
+ Loved seeing Peggy and loved her working with the Howling Commandos to fight Hydra.
+ "You’re the man in charge but I’m in charge of you, remember?" - Melinda. Love May as Coulson’s second.
+ Favouite little momemt of the episode was the little glasses exchange between May and Coulson where he looked for glassed and she finds and holds them out to him.
+ I loved Trip/Skye. ♥ They were delightful. They're totally buds now, hanging out and having beers, chatting. Love it.
+ Skye and May were both great.
+ Trip. I just really love him as a character. I loved him being all obsessed about Koenig and gossiping about the truth about him to Skye.
+ I really liked Hartley. She seemed really compatent, actually trustworthy, pretty badass and like she would have been a good addition to the team.
+ Fitz. I really felt for him as he struggled to remember words and stressing over failing everyone. Learning that Jemma was a hallucination - ouch. That was brutal.
+ Jemma's a hallucination. I loved that twist. I didn't see it coming and it makes what's happening with Fitz even more interesting and heartbreaking. Plus I really don't want FitzSimmons to become a couple and this episode made it seem likely until you realise that it was all in Fitz's head.
Didn't Like
+ Kind of annoyed that Trip, according to wiki, is only a ‘guest’ actor this season instead of a full cast member. Well, less ‘kind of annoyed’ and more seriously irritated with TPTB. Based on how the show ended I was 100% expecting Trip to be Ward’s replacement on the team and I feel… cheated that he’s not. Even more so knowing that they’re adding a new main character with Lance Hunter. I sure as hell want Trip over Hunter. He's so great, adds a wonderful humour to the show and gels so well with the team. I don't understand them bringing in someone new over him.
+ I can’t believe the show killed off Hartley. I can’t believe they gave us Lucy freaking Lawless and then killed her off after one episode. WTF?! That’s just wrong.
+ I’m annoyed that Hunter survived instead of Hartley because a) she’s just cooler, and b) he’s basically the reason she died. Okay, fine not the ‘reason’, that was Creel, but I’m annoyed at the character for reasons beyond him (see Trip) so I’m blaming him anyway. He contributed. Hartley was all for following Coulson’s orders and it was his decision to cut and run. If he’d listened to Hartley, to Coulson’s orders, they probably would have made it to the Quinjet with the others and neither of his teammates would have died. And Hydra wouldn’t have gotten the 084. grumble, grumble. Although I will give him that Coulson's secret keeping also played a role since Hartley's team didn't know they were going for the Quinjet and if they had Hunter may have very well decided to go with them.
+ I actually didn’t mind Hunter at all while watching but the fact that we’re getting him as the new main cast member this season instead of Trip or Hartley makes me dislike him just for not being what I want.
+ Two moments of stupid:
1) Hartley taking the unknown artifact out of it's sealed case to use as a weapon even though she knows nothing about it except that it's dangerous was so dumb. She should know better.
2) The team just letting Hunter take Hartley, and with her the 084, away was also kind of dumb. They knew Creel was after it, they knew it was very important to keep out of Hydra's hands. As soon as Hunter started to drag Hartley away they should have stopped him.
+ While I liked the Jemma twist I find Jemma choosing to leave hard to believe and the explanation for why doesn't really hold water for me. She wouldn't just abandon them. I'm hoping she's working on assignment elsewhere for Coulson.
