Revenge 4x04 Review

This was excellent. I loved it.
+ Emily's reactions were amazing. When she first saw David, then her scenes with Nolan especially her breakdown outside the police station, and then at the end. EVC was really good. Emily's reaction to seeing her dad again was perfect and really moving. I loved the scene outside the station.
+ I loved Jack and Nolan's reactions as well. Their shock and their worry/concern for Emily was very well played. I can't wait to see the Nolan/David reunion.
+ David is much more sane and together than he appears. Based on the previous episode I thought he was fragile too! He is a lot more clever then I saw in the last episode. His plan was actually pretty damn clever. Like daughter, like father apparently. I love the Clarke's particular brand of crazy. I love this David. I want more of him. I find myself really interested in David vs Victoria and the possibility that he doesn't actually trust her as much as it seems.
+ "She got to him first." - Emily. True enough. It would have more impact as a 'gotcha' moment on Victoria's part if Emily didn't have Nolan and Jack and DNA on her side. All she needs to do is get to David, reveal her true identity and use Nolan (David's only friend) and Jack (Amanda's childhood BFF and 'Amanda's' husband) to back her up. If needed apply a DNA test or a 'hey, remember the time blah blah blah' test or show him their revenge box or hell, all of the above and suddenly it doesn't matter that much that Victoria got there first.
+ I loved the Charlotte/Victoria scene. It was perfect. I love the fact that they were both actually completely right.
Victoria was right when she called Charlotte on acting like a victim. Horrible things have happened to Charlotte, some happened because of others and some because of choices she made, but how she's reacted has been entirely on her. And that has been to wallow in it, to cloak herself in her victimhood. I sympathise a lot which is probably why I don't dislike her like a lot of people do. Victoria was also right that they have all 'been to hell and back'. No one has emerged unscathed. Victoria was right on calling her on using drugs again. Finally Victoria was 100% right with: "If you want a relationship with your father fight for it." I want to see that.
Charlotte was completely right to be pissed off at her mother. This was completely true: "My reaction was happiness. but you ruined that and made meeting my father all about hurting Emily." Charlotte was right to disbelieve that Victoria had no other motives, with her 'the Grayson mantra: lie and deny' zing and by not wanting to have a relationship with David on Victoria's terms.
+ I love that Nolan went ahead and called the police and then wouldn't let Emily brush it off as minor. I love Jack warning Emily that he would arrest her if Victoria turned up dead.
+ Why the hell wouldn't Nolan have gone in to see David, and called him a lawyer, as soon as he learned he was alive? That makes absolutely no freaking sense and was the biggest issue by far in the episode. Nolan was David's only friend there at the end which should have gotten him in. They could have showed him trying to go in. And seriously sending a lawyer for him should have at least crossed their minds.
+ I find it unbelievable that no one recognised David. He hasn't changed that much and he's been major news multiple times.
+ The weakness of David's tale is that while he has fresh whip marks he doesn't have old ones. That detail bugged me but I'm sure it won't come up.
+ I enjoyed the way that while Victoria was fighting and manipulating to have things go her way everyone kept dropping some painful truth bombs on her and she wasn't able to completely manipulate things/people to her liking. The Charlotte confrontation, Daniel freezing her out and calling her on her lying, David telling her that he won't be her prisoner. I like that it isn't just falling perfectly in line but that at the same time she's still coming out ahead of the game.
+ Louise being fixated on Victoria could be interesting. So - she wants Victoria to be her perfect mother? That's what I'm getting. She could add an interesting element to the Victoria vs Emily fighting.
