Revenge 4x05 Review

• I don't entirely buy Emily's reasons for not telling David. "I'm going to win him back honestly. With the truth." ... by telling him the truth about who you are, yes? Or I guess she could keep lying by not actually telling him the truth. For reasons. Dumb, dumb reasons. He's mentally fragile and doesn't know who to trust - give him back him daughter and he'll trust her and lean on her. It also immediately gets Victoria away from him. Which - of course he isn't going to turn away from Emily or hate her if he learns about her revenge schemes. Why is she letting Victoria get to her? I think if TPTB had tried better they could have come up with a halfway believable reason for Emily to need to keep the secret but what we got was not it. What David is going to be pissed about is the fact that she kept this truth from him. Up until this point Victoria managed to keep Emily away from him but now Emily's the one keeping Amanda from David and that is on her. And with every day goes past with her lying, especially if she significantly interacts with her, the more it's going to damage their relationship and trust when the truth comes out. It's just so idiotic. Bad show, no cookie.
• David's now looking for revenge for Amanda but who is he going to be aiming at? Nolan, who he could think should have looked after her? Jack, her husband for not protecting her? Emily, her best friend? Victoria? Who else is there? Conrad who killed her is already dead. I was sure that David's storyline would be mostly about the mystery of where the hell he's been for the last ten years.
• I loved the Nolan/David scene. I especially loved David hugging Nolan and Nolan's reaction to it - shock, then teary-eyed happiness. I also loved his joy when he saw David at his door.
• I liked the Jack/Nolan scene. David is super important to Nolan as well so it was nice to see him get some sympathy since Emily can't right now. I have to admit I was a little anoyed with her for ignoring Nolan's feelings and brushing him off even though I understand why. I need her to be as good a friend to Nolan as he is to her.
• I loved Nolan fixing the infinity box.
• So Charlotte's decided on 'bitch' I see. She is so easily manipulated it's ridiculous. If Emily had approached Victoria in the beginning she probably would have ended up in the grave (well, if she wasn't Emily). Then she falls back on self-destructiveness, of course. That's getting old.
• I loved Jack confronting Charlotte. I loved him calling her out for "torturing David for some pathetic power trip over Jack". He was so right and it just shows Charlotte as a hyprocrit since in the previous episode she was going off on her mother for using her and her relationship with David to lash out at Emily. I liked that he compared her to Conrad.
• I love the way Emily circumvented Victoria in getting David the beach house.
• Daniel is an idiot. Also he hasn't bothered to even try to get ahold of Charlotte so he's a horrible brother too.
• Margaux deserves so much better than Daniel. I really want her and Emily to become actually allies. Maybe even friends.
