• Charlotte is Audrey/Mara's mother! I did not see that coming! I mean I considered the possibility that she could be one of Mara's people but I never thought she was family. After Audrey found the ring I wondered if perhaps she was the granddaughter of one of Audrey's past lives.

• I'm so glad that Mara was playing Duke all along. That everything she's done has been in the interests of whatever plan she has. It works with everything we've seen of her character whereas her actually falling for Duke wouldn't have.

• Duke's side of this is more inexplicable. Why did Mara manage to get to him? Desperate hope + feeling disconnected from everyone (but especially Audrey) + feeling left out of the loop + feeling distrusted (especially by Nathan) + the need to actively work to solve the Troubles/save himself = Duke's actions over the last few episodes? Him being vulnerable emotionally + is new Trouble issues making it even easier for Mara to manipulate him?

"I had to use you. Just like your mother." / "Shut up." / "And just like Audrey." / "SHUT UP!" - Mara/Duke. ... and Audrey is apparently still Duke's weak point. Good. I've really been wondering. If they needed Duke/Audrey separated for this Mara/Duke storyline, which is what it looks like, I really wish they'd found a way to do it without messing with the Duke/Audrey relationship in really inexplicable ways.

• There was still no Audrey/Duke interactions which was frustrating and annoying. Also it made no sense. Why the hell wasn't Audrey looking for Duke along with Nathan? Yeah, the situation with Charlotte is important and Audrey is deteriorating quickly but the Duke/Mara situation is also moving along at speed and they have a far better chance of helping her than a fraudulent CDC agent (as far as she knows). Plus he's her friend and he's in trouble. It felt especially jarring that we had Duke knocking out Nathan and murdering a person and Audrey still ignored the whole situation to concentrate on Charlotte. It didn't work for me. She should have been right there with Nathan looking for, and finding, Duke.

• On the plus side, Audrey's phone call to Nathan about Duke was perfect. Now if only she'd said it to Nathan where Duke could have heard her. Like during the scene at the Gull at the end which she should have been a part of. Or, you know, said it directly to Duke.

- "This is about Duke. He's gotta have a reason for what he's doing." I love Audrey concentrating immediately on the important thing - Duke. And that she believes in him completely and knows he has to have a reason for his actions even when those actions are siding with the enemy, attacking Nathan and killing someone.

- "It's Duke, Nathan." Because really that's all that needs to be said for Audrey.

- "He's hurting, all right? Whatever is going on with his curse, whatever Mara's doing to him, he needs you. So just find him, talk to him, and remind him that he still has friends." Thank you! Excellent advice. Now if only she had taken it for herself too because, damn it, it applies to her as well. Duke needs her too.

• I liked that Duke asked Nathan about Audrey pretty much immediately. At this point I'll take any crumb.

"I needed you." I loved that and Duke's expression. Their fight made me roll my eyes - just, seriously guys? - but I love that they've tentatively made up by the end. I'm so glad that Nathan asked Duke to let him help him. And while I'm not happy that Duke didn't tell Nathan about Mara using him I love that he did tell Nathan about how out of control his Trouble issue has gotten.

• I love that Duke figured out that Mara had played him before she called and confirmed it.

• The Duke/Gloria scene was really lovely. "You always were a good kid." I love that Gloria helped Duke without telling anyone about seeing him. I love how concerned she was about him.

• Dwight's interlude with his friend at the bar was a little weird. In an earlier episode it'd be fine but this is the penultimate episode and there is a lot of crap happening. Dwight taking the time to sit and chat about his love life is - weird. They could have tried to pay even lip service to Dwight doing his job and trying to find information about Kirk or Duke/Mara.

• The Audrey/Nathan office scene was so bizarre. Audrey's been weirdly timid all season but she's been feeling a little more like normal Audrey lately and then this. She was scared which, okay, understandable since she can feel herself dying, except she was only scared. Where was the anger and the determination? When Nathan threw his little fit she actually flinched back and looked upset... whaaaat? And then she let him storm off without saying anything, even started to say something but stopped. Her whole manner throughout the entire scene was just so wrong.

• Okay, if everyone in Charlotte's family has a ring why did Audrey never get one? Both Sarah and Lucy had their own after all.

• I liked Audrey and Vince teaming up. They haven't really interacted much lately which is too bad because I like their interactions.
