This was a great episode! I really enjoyed it.
I think splitting the team was an excellent idea. It ended up working really well. It felt like it gave us a lot more personal moments between various characters and let most of them be used better. Plus a lot happened this episode.
+ Fitz tried to bribe Coulson for extra vacation time, hee.
+ I loved the Jemma/Trip/Skye scene. This is all I wanted after the season 1 finale - the three of them friends, working together. It was short but sweet. I loved Jemma's concern for him. I loved Jemma and Trip trying to reassure Skye
"I just can't shake this vibe that something really bad is about to happen." - Skye
"You mean like somebody getting shot? Yeah, I got that covered already so you can lose that vibe. We're good." - Trip
+ Still love the Koenig's. A little disappointed that they aren't LMDs. Their silent exchange during the plane face off with Ward was great.
+ "Of course. I'm her SO." - May. Loved that.
+ The Simmons/Bobbi scene was nice. But what I really love is that it looks like the show mght not be going a romantic Fitz/Simmons route which makes me so happy. I love them as BFF but I don't actually want them together. The fact that Jemma's reaction to Fitz's coma was to want her best friend back certainly implies a lot about her feelings for him.
I'm glad that we're finally getting Jemma's POV on what happened. It makes complete sense that the issue was Jemma trying to deal with her emotions over Fitz's romantic feelings reveal and trying to figure out her own feelings while also dealing with the guilt of Fitz's sacrifice.
+ I loved the little salute Trip and Jemma exchanged before she left. Adorable!
+ I loved Skye hugging Coulson before he left. Aww. I loved how she hesitated for a second, glanced at May, and then was like 'fuck it' huggg.
+ What is going on with Bobbi and Mack? 'The other thing', hmm. Could they have a side job or mission, or perhaps are working directly for Fury or someone else?
+ The Skye vs Agent 33 showdown was great. I was impressed with how well Skye did against her. She really held her own. There were a couple times during it where I was like 'yeah, I can see May's training'.
+ Hunter's reaction to Agent 33 was amusing.
+ "It's Hydra. Might need the shotgun." - Bobbi
"Why do you think I brought you?" - Coulson
+ Trip being freaked out by the Koenig brothers, calling back to earlier in the season, amused me. I also loved Ward's reaction to them.
+ I loved Coulson's "lucky her" when May told him that Agent 33 still had her face.
+ It's interesting that Mack's ability to understand Fitz's thoughts have decreased as Jemma's have returned.
+ Fitz/Mack are still great though their dynamic has changed a bit. Mack was less... not supportive but accommodating of Fitz's avoidance issues. I loved him leaving FitzSimmons alone to talk it out. I loved Fitz appreciating the model car. I loved Fitz's "Please be careful." I'm really glad that Fitz didn't end up having to shot Mack. It was a really tense moment and would have been horrible.
+ I liked the Skye/Raina scenes.
+ I really loved May/Skye at the end. Their extended eye-contact was great. I loved Skye's "Whatever happens I can handle myself." and May's nod of acknowledgement.
+ Really worried about Mack. I hope he doesn't die. Considering he'd been taken over by something alien I think him surviving the fall could be easily explained away. It's just a matter of saving him from that. But after Trip's almost death in the last episode will they really have another team member die and survive so soon after?
