Long Into the Abyss

Sometimes I forget just how awesome the women are on this show.

I Loved

In list form:

• Octavia saving Bellamy from Lincoln when he got free.

• Nyko warning Octavia to flee when he found her.

• Clarke figuring out what Nyko was going to do and stopping him before he could kill Lincoln. And that she figured it out because she heard Anya say it.

• Octavia getting between Nyko and Bellamy and refusing to let Bellamy shoot him. This episode had them protecting each other which makes me hope for a friendship.

• Clarke's quick thinking during the tense face off and tazing Nyko to end it without bloodshed. I love how it's mirrored at the end of the episode when we get a similarly tense face off and Abby tazes Lincoln in order to break it (and save Lincoln's life). Like daughter, like mother. (And actually with both of them leaders of 'their' people and the doctors of their groups, they really are.)

• Clarke and Octavia's shared glance after Clarke saves Lincoln. Seriously show, I want a friendship.

• Monty, Jasper, Miller and Harper deciding not to wait around for saving and to put their criminal skills to work at finding something to help them themselves.

• Loved, loved, loved how the Abby and Jaha confrontation played out. I loved that in their first scene she refused to give the Chancellorship back to him even with him expecting it. Jaha trying to intimidate her into first doing what he wanted (with words and getting into her space) and her refusing to be intimidated was so great. What made me really worried was when he then tried to take back command and have Abby taken into custody. Major Burn isn't a big fan of Abby's but apparently rule of law is most important to her, and rule for the Ark has the Chancellorship something that can be given but not taken. I loved Abby ordering them to take Jaha to the stockade and them doing it. I should have trusted that the show would do this right.

• Clarke and Lexa's meeting was also sooo good. I loved everything about their interactions. I loved that Clarke went alone to meet her - mirroring her Anya meeting - two leaders face to face.

Also this was awesome:

"So you're the one who burnt 300 of my warriors alive." - Lexa
"You're the one who sent them there to kill us." - Clarke

Point to Clarke.

• The fact that Clarke kept one of Anya's braids and that Lexa recognised it as Anya's immediately. I'm really sad we didn't get to see all three of them interacting.

• Monty reassuring Miller with - "Hey, you're a great thief." Aww, adorable.

Didn't Like

• Basically just the Finn/Clarke scenes actually. In both scenes Clarke says something I very much disagreed with or disliked.

"The Grounders are attacking because that's what grounders do." - Clarke. Mmm, no, in this case it's pretty much because Finn murdered 18 of their (defenceless) people. Now I definitely can agree a confrontation was coming but the way it's played out and the timing of it is entirely because of Finn's actions.

"Lincoln's savable, and so are you." - Clarke. These are totally different situations. They are not the same at all!!! Lincoln was tortured and drugged into mindlessness. Finn was under a lot of stress, probably had PTSD and possibly even had a mental break. I actually do agree with Clarke that Finn is savable. But linking the two situations together as the same is very annoying.

- I also found Clarke was a little too forgiving/supportive this ep. I don't feel like their scenes in the last episode were enough to bridge Clarke's horror with Finn and what he did to her sympathy in this episode. I think one more episode between this and the previous episode with Finn actually showing sincere remorse/guilt and grief over what he did where Clarke could see might have been enough. I can certainly buy Clarke eventually forgiving him but this was too quick.

• Oh also: It would have been nice if Clarke had been a little more effective in her own attempt to save Bellamy from Lincoln. She was very ineffective in that scene and it felt a little weird. Octavia did great which makes sense as she's the one who's been training to be a warrior but after the Clarke/Anya showdown we know that Clarke is stronger than she looks and can hold her own in a fight.

Other

• I'm a bit confused about the whole Lexa/Anya situation. This episode has Clarke identifying Lexa is Anya's second. Except we saw Anya's second in the first season (the girl who Clarke couldn't save), I thought? Plus I thought Lexa was 'the Commander' and in season 1 not only did Anya answer to 'the Commander' but so did the guy, who's name I forget, who took over the attack on the 100 after her failure. So if Anya had survived would she have taken over command from Lexa? Is there someone who is above them in the hierarchy that's actually 'the Commander'?

• Curing Lincoln of being a reaper happened far too easily and quickly for me.

• Jaha really did not cover himself with glory this episode. I can sympathise with him and I do believe that he was trying to do what he thought was best to save their people. But he was so out of bounds in how he behaved. He was a complete dick to Abby. I think someone is far too used to being in command.

• When Jaha said "I am the elected chancellor of the Ark" I really wanted someone to mention that there is no Ark now. That while he ended his reign as it's Chancellor damn well it's gone and Abby is Chancellor now.

• I found Finn's reaction to Nyko's anger and attack interesting in that he was so passive and just seemed to accept Nyko's judgment. He didn't fight back at all. It makes me think that what he did is really starting to hit him. It makes me think that he might turn himself over to the Grounders. I wonder how Clarke is going to save him from this?

• I want a Finn/Bellamy scene. They haven't really interacted significantly since the massacre and they had been building trust and friendship before that. Does Bellamy feel guilty for letting Finn go on even knowing he was unstable? Has Bellamy shared his own guilt in his role of the deaths of the 320 on the Ark? I feel like Bellamy is exactly the person Finn should be talking to.
