Unforgiven

+ What is up with Maleficent's resurrection? You can't bring people back from the dead - the show has been very clear about this. Hell, last season it was a plot point which lead to Neal sacrificing his life to bring his father back. The show needs to address this even if it's to throw out some bullshit explanation, like 'she's a dragon and thus the normal rules aren't the same for her'. Anything.

+ I really enjoyed Maleficent. Even her outfit looked better then usual. Her scenes with Snow were great. And the reveal at the end that her most treasured talisman was actually a baby rattle and the naked grief on her face really got to me.

+ So what did Snow/Charming do to Maleficent that caused her to lose her baby? Or maybe just Snow since Maleficent's attention was solely focused on her. It can't just be Snow turning down Maleficent's offer to work together. Part of the 'extreme measures' to make sure Emma would be 'good'? Did they trade Maleficent's 'evil' baby for Emma's 'goodness'? Or do a spell to ensure Emma's 'goodness' and inadvertently killing Maleficent's baby. Either option would be dark, the first really dark and potentially interesting, but I think probably too dark for the heroes of the show. I have a feeling that it will turn out a lot more innocent and accidental much like Snow's revealing Regina's secret. Which to be honest would be kind of disappointing.

+ I'm torn about how the show is portraying Regina's quest for redemption and one of the main reasons was showcased this episode. With Regina's focus switched to finding the Author so she can force him to write her a happy ending Regina's redemption search sometimes ends up coming off more as something she's doing just to get a happy ending. That it's more about her happiness then her regret and attempts to make amends and to be a good person. It also feels sometimes like she's placing a lot of the blame for her being 'evil' on the Author instead of on herself (as per usual). That said I do think her apology to Marco was sincere and I really liked it.

+ I really liked the final Snow/Regina scene. Ginnifer Goodwin was so good. I love how she stumbled over saying "you once asked me to keep a secret but I couldn't". I love that she trusted Regina with what is apparently her darkest secret.

+ I found Emma's little tiff with Hook kind of perplexing at first. Her pressing him about his past and then getting upset when he wouldn't tell her about it was unreasonable and it bothered me. However, their final scene made up for it. Emma being fine with him keeping his secrets but being upset over him lying to her made complete sense especially with her past. That whole scene was pretty good.

+ Even after all this time Emma calling Charming 'dad' makes me smile so much.

+ Ursula and Cruela continue to be entertaining. I loved them torturing Rumplestiltskin about Belle. I loved this exchange about Maleficent:

"I forgot how much I missed her." - Ursula
"It's good to be entertaining." - Cruela

+ So her parents did something horrible to Maleficent, Hook did something horrible to Ursula (maybe)... all leading to Emma's inevitable descent into evil? Something will clearly have to happen to Henry for me to really believe it.

+ Not enough Henry with the Charming side of his family. It felt weird to me when he left Granny's without even saying hi to his grandparents. I love all the Regina/Henry scenes but I'm missing Emma and Henry.

+ Belle and Will Scarlet - okay. I don't know how much I buy it considering it's only been 6 weeks and just how devoted to Rumple she was. I'm betting it's more of a friendship thing. But if the show wants to go there - especially as a short fling/friends with benefits sort of deal - okay than. It's already a step up from Rumple!
